because the wysiwygs are imperfect and likely always will be. Sometimes they fuck up code and you won't even see it when you're looking right at it. Doesn't mean you gotta code completely by hand, let the editor do its job, but you should be able to if you need to make tweaks and adjustments. Not to mention if you need to track down a problem source, how are you going to do that if you don't know what you're looking at.

you're new, aren't you? Let me help, and I'm serious: Find a niche that you like and learn how to promote the hell out of it. That's it in a nutshell.

HTML is too easy *not* to know. You can learn everything you need to know, and be making quality sites in days. Not knowing HTML is like working construction and not knowing how to use a ruler. I suppose you can get other people to measure for you, but, wouldn't it be nice to know how? :1orglaugh

Everything Plan9 just said. Html is so freakin' easy, I can't understand how someone can be in the online business for more than a week and NOT know html. The popular excuse seems to be "well, I'm a bigwig, I don't need to know... I have my "people" do that menial stuff for me...."

staying with the construction reference here.... if anyone thinks the bigwigs in construction don't know how to read a ruler or a set of blueprints, you're living in a dreamworld.

it's not about having "people" to do things for you... that's expected. Everyone's got their people. But not knowing how to at least read html, and especially when you're in the online business, is today's electronic equivalent of being illiterate.
