how to record old vinyl records onto pc?
is there a special plug for inputting sound to a pc? or will a standard 3.5mm stereo plug do the job? i've tried a hotwired 3.5mm plug and all i get is mono sound from both monitoring speakers, even when i apply just the record player's left signal to only 2 of the 3 wires (also tried all possible permutations on those 3 input wires).
also tried another computer with a different soundcard, same problem. ![]()

i've got a lead which has a 3.5mm jack on one end that splits into two seperate female auxillary plugs (phono leads or whatever you call them) at the other end and this allows recording vinyl in stereo to a pc. so leads like that are available.
