Yes, kids would probably find a way to work around it, but then they would be the ones working hard to get there, not me working hard to give them something.

The world is intended for adults. We have bars, we have nightclubs, we have strip clubs, we have cars that you can't drive until a certain age. You cannot vote, you cannot die for your country, and technically, you aren't even suppose to smoke, drink or fuck until you are an adult.

We create in the real work playgrounds for children, places that they can go and play safely with other children.

It is a great American tradition to blame the outside sources for problems, but realistically children are their parent's responsbility until they are of age, and parents need to take that responsibility a little more seriously,

Look at KP. It sucks, it is against the law, and you can find it be searching google. If they can't stop the blatantly illegal stuff, what they fuck you think they are going to do against legal porn?

Alex

This will be my last post on this as apparently you have a solidified position and are not really considering anything i have said.

1) Actually the business world makes it easy for kids to see porn - this is not the parents fault. We make it easy for EVERYONE to see porn because that is what we sell. That is why we do affiliate programs and other marketing campaigns. Banks and financial insitutions make it easy because they are pushing credit cards into the hands of 13 year olds to capture brand loyalty. Then we say by possessing a credit card you are of the age of majority. (Sidenote: Has anyone thought how idiotic that statement is? Can anyone give me one example in the offline world the possession of a credit card proves age and identity?) We do retain the right to market our legal product, but only to the age of majority. The responsibility is on US to make sure we do this. Unfortunately 99.9% of us do not.

2) Once again, your world view is very skewed. We have adult playgrounds (strip clubs, bars, etc.) and youth playgrounds (Chuckie Cheese, Batting Cages, etc.). Everyone intermingles in this world. 99% of this land is to be enjoyed by everyone regardless of age, sex or race.

3) Yes we do blame others for things a good portion of the time, but if you do one thing today, please look at yourself to see if you are doing everything you possibly can to screen minors from accessing your site. Not what the law might say, but what you are actively doing. I guarantee you are not. You do not have the right to market to minors anywhere in this country or world regardless of what you say. In the offline world this is true as well. Please stop hiding behind parental responsibility and freedom of speech, and take a good look at yourself to see if you are being responsible.

4) Last thought. You are asking the government to oversee and protect our citizens by censoring and releasing information they feel is important to our children - correct? Essentially allowing the government to tell us what type of history we should believe and learn? Isn't this the anti-thesis of everything on this board? Yes a portion of parents are irresponsible, but you are basically asking our representative democracy to become a socialist state.

The sky is falling

I know i said the previous post was my last, I saw something i felt that should be posted and how improperly we act.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2003Oct14.html

"In 2002, the Federal Trade Commission created 150 e-mail addresses and posted them around the web. Of those posted on children's newsgroups, 30 percent received spam for pornography and other adult products and ten percent received spam for hallucinogenic drugs. Pornographers troll the Internet looking for new customers and they do not care one bit if they are marketing to children."

This is why the government and credit card companies are coming after us. Our industry has brought this on ourselves because we fail to act in a responsible manner. I hope this does not fall on deaf ears, but once again, if you want to continue being in business, everyone needs to clean up their act.

Pornwolf, I do everything that Canadian law requires of me. Nothing more, nothing less.

Might I suggest that if you are serious about stopping the spread of free porn that you take down all your free sites, link sites, tgp pages, etc, and redirect them to paysites only, and that if you run a webmaster program, that you only accept traffic either directly from search engines or as exit consoles from other membership sites?

Don't just talk - act.

As for the email spams, I would be careful on the "how improperly we act" - I ain't part of that we. People who spam deserve what they get. I don't, I won't, so I ain't in that we.
