This is a story about the 'Tiger Attack' given by the hotel owner Mr. Wynn who got the info from the staff and video.

From what the story says it wasn't an attack but a simple misjudgement by the cat in trying to 'protect' Roy. Makes more sense.

The explanation in the article actually does make sense. If that tiger had been attacking, Roy would never have survived. One thorough bite or a good shake of that cat's head would have been the end.

handle a bit of tossing around.. anything else a tiger deals with
is simply lunch.

Im sure they trained the animal well enough not to go for the kill

There isn't really a line between getting the urge and going for the kill. As soon as instincts kick in, it's pretty much over.
So, the tiger probably intended no harm, and didn't even have an urge... just a bit of confusion.

I remember looking at footage of a little kid that fell into the gorilla habitat at a zoo. While other gorillas got wild and started to jump around and made where preparing to attack the kid one of the females picked the kid up, protected it and carried it to the door where the personel usually feeds them.
She was clearly putting the kid at that place because she knew that way the zoo personel could grab the kid and get it out of the habitat.
She kept protecting the child against her fellow gorillas untill the kid was safe.

So i surelly think that this could be the true"Roy's attack" story.

I have seen 600 pound cats like that kill a 2000 pound water buffalo in less the 5 seconds. Had the cat wanted anyone in that arena dead, it wouldn't have any problem, im sure. Cats are smart, it was pretecting its partner.

Makes no sense except for the fact the cat wasn't trying to hurt his handler initially. Once he bit Roy's arm and Roy reacted the cats prey drive took over. Anyone who has spent any time with exotic cats knows that the worst thing you can do when makes an aggresive move is react in a way that might heighten the cats prey drive. It makes perfect sense if you think about when prey animals panic they make erratic movement and fuck up when they take flight. This is what cats are all about which is what makes them succesful hunters.

The only thing I agree with as I've read about this whole story was the decision not to put the tiger down. He wasn't doing anything except being a tiger. When you take a wild animal and put him in an environment where he will be stressed or distracted these types of scnarios are all but inevitable.

If you ask me, these guys beat the odds for a very long time. Wonder how many cats they went through to get to the one they could actually work with. Usually for every 20-30 cats you will come across one that can be a handled, no tellling how many to get to one you could have in a public setting.

And BTW.. Steve Wynn doesn't own the hotel anymore. It's part of MGM/Mirage now. Steve's got his place under construction where the Desert Inn used to be.
