opening links in new windows and exit console?

it seems when I set links to open target="new" it screws up the exit console on the same page and it doesn't pop.

How do I open links in a new window and still have the exit console pop when they close the original window?

i think you can add onclick="exitScript();"

with exitscript being the script your using in the exit routine.
