Hdtv + Pc - GoFuckYourself.com

I just hooked up a PC to my 53" Panasonic HDTV with S-Video...but the PC is still running at 60 hz (TV only run at 30 I believe). Anybody know of some configuration software to tune the picture a little better for a TV (instead of a monitor)?

Svideo max of 480p ... your tv 1080i

Best bet is to get a card that has component outputs (not sure what video card has that) but then you'd get a much better picture.

You might trying hunting around google for a good hdtv message forum i think home theater boards or something like that is pretty big and someone there might know more.

Get an ATI video card, they have an HDTV adapter you can buy on their web site that will plug into your set (component video) that supports up to 1080i. Just make sure you check their website to see which cards support the adapter.

It used to only work with the 9500 and 9700 Radeons, but they've released some new models since then.

Thanks for the reply 4Pics. Right now I'm using S-Video out on a GeForce FX 5600 card. It also has DVI out...but I'm not really familiar with that kind of format. My TV does not have DVI in or anything...but is DVI able to split into component?

I went ahead and bought an ATI AIW Radeon 9700 Pro...has DVI -> Component adapater and software to tune the PC output to work with the TV.

Question is: is this damaging to the TV at all?

If you for some reason tried to use it like a monitor all the time and had your contrast and brightness up high, you "could" get still images burned-in, like the taskbar or start button or whatever.

But I play video games and display my desktop on my RPTV all the time and have no problems. The only RPTV's I've ever seen with images burned-in are the Sega units at arcades that play the same game for 18 hours straight, 5 or 6 days a week, all year long.

Not really any more dangerous than watching widescreen DVDs all the time on a 4:3 set.

What he said is the only problem you'll have. What difference in picture do you now see? I know hooking my laptop up to my 47" ws the picture was not great. I'd love to take all my dvds and turn them into 1-1.5gig avi's that then I can store on 4 250gig hd's so I can have easier access to them.

Most Plasmas and Rptv's don't have DVI yet, some of the higher end models do but I have yet to see one that has a dvi out.

There is a hdtv vcr but I think i'll wait for hd-dvd t come out so I dont waste a grand + movie cost.
