I have Star Wars and Return of the Jedi on DVD but still missing Empire Strikes Back... They were copied from the old school Laser Disk.. Not DVD quality but still a little better than VHS.

Besides the illegal DVD's you can buy on ebay that were made from Laserdisc, there is word now that they might release the Original Trilogy DVD's as early as Thanksgiving 2004.

Originally they weren't planning on releasing them until after Episode III DVD hits shelves, but they might be rethinking that strategy to better market the theatrical release of Episode III in 2005. They did the same thing with the Episode I DVD to market a secret trailer for Episode II's theatrical release.

On the flip side, this could all be rumor...

There's still original footage shot at the start of episode 1 that was never seen with Luke.

Maybe they will add this and a few other scenes in. Hmmm...

There was talk about this...adding some footage shot during the new trilogies production that was going to be added to the Original Trilogy in an "Ultimate Edition DVD" set, but I don't know how valid this is...

What they were saying is that they were going to add some shots of Padme, Qui-Gon, etc., here and there in the background or wherever in order to make them mesh seamlessly with the New Trilogy, but who the fuck knows.

Bottom line, they might do this down the road as a way to milk Star Wars fans for more money.

By "episode 1" do you mean Episode IV: A New Hope?

They'll be for sale pretty soon now. Lucas said he probably won't be waiting until Eps 3 comes out on DVD. So probably once they're done shooting Eps 3 he'll slap them together - hopefully.

They have wrapped principal photography a few weeks ago and will do additional photography in March 2004.

They should have plenty of time to work on the Classic Trilogy DVD's between now and then, but the question is, will they?

Am I the only one who hates "special edition rereleases"? I want the fucking movies the way they came out when I saw them. They could have had Ep 4-6 out a long time ago. You know, the GOOD ones.

Fuck George Lucas, his retarded Star Wars movies and all the Star Wars geeks who line his pockets by buying all that pathetic Star Wars merchandise.
