What's everyone's input regarding a banner exchange?

Banner, Button and Text exchanges work very well to build up a steady flow of traffic directly where you want it.

I wouldnt pay for banners - but my stats show that plenty of people are getting plenty of clicks.

Exchanges return very little productivity.
