When did the way Sponsors track clicks change?

What is this shit about qualifed then counting your join ratio from that?

Since 96' I thought ratio was always unique clicks sent to joins.

Not 2nd page or 3rd page or join page to conversion.

Who the fuck cares if the ratio is 1/20 when it takes you 8000 visitors to get that.

According to a few sponsors my ratio with ARS would be 1:25 instead of 1:153.

if i remember correclty it was 1999. i had been working at igallery since 1996 and when they told me that we were not counting unique hits and that waht we report as hits is hits to teh join page i flipped and said that they were idiots. they said it would make the conversion ratios go down and i explained till i was blue in the face that it doesnt do anything.

it still makes no sence to me to count 2nd page hits as teh number of hits.

It makes perfect sense. What looks better, 1:150 or 1:750? It doesn't matter whether or not the outcome is the same. Webmasters are silly and don't realize that. They usually go for the better looking conversion instead of the better looking pay check.

It might make sense, but its making the people who promote them look like fools for posting their ratios.

You mean the people who are content with 1:1200 dont realize that they are really 1:3500?

its also bullshit to say you convert off your tgp at 1:200 for banner clicks.

It only takes 20,000,000 visitors to get 200 banner clicks

Depends on if you sell ads by per impression or per click or sale.

If by the click or per sale then 1/200 would be fine. If by impression you'd need to know clickthru %.

i refuse to use sponsors who employ this. tcg counts 2nd page, i put up with that for a while but i think it should be industry standard to be 1st page unique hits that are displayed in stats.

It's not so bad my join page ratio with TripleX this month was about 1:3500, now would you hate to hear my unique ratio of hits to the galleries those came from.

I'm sorry I was actually 1:6040 on hits to the join page with Triple X this past month or on uniques I was 1:15,452.

So that's not really bad at all is it? Oh yeah that's not TGP traffic either.

if you don't have your own click out tracker, you'll never know what your real conversion is. Even the sponsors that count first page raws report 10 to 50% lower than your real first page clicks..

wrong.
If I'm buying per click or per sale and you're doing 1:200 on banner clicks but it takes 20 million visitors for 200 clicks, even talking to you is wasting my time.
