Our Next President? WESLEY CLARK.. Can he beat Bush?

Is 4 Star General Wesley Clark our only hope?
Does he have the tools to beat Bush?

He's Democrat. He's A 4 Start General who has spoke out against Bush's militarty tactics publically for months now making Bush look like a fool, and he has a big Democrat backing.

Is he the main man of the Democratic Ticket?

If so Can he take it?
Will America back em?

I know some Republicans who have had enough of Bush and are willing to Vote for a Democrat, Clark Specfically.

Can he win?

Or will Hillary outshine him??

Truthfully if Hillary beats him for the Democrat Ticket to go against Bush, I think Bush will beat her.

Is Clark our only hope to getting As h cr oft and the current administration out?

Does he have it?

This General may be the only fight we have to save our industry from the much postphoned attack on porn that has been promised.

If the Bush Administration wins one more term you can bet the war on porn will be full blown on this next term.

No more delays.

No, what's stupid is to vote for a shithead. And every single Democrat is a shithead and so is Bush. Why do they deserve my vote? You want to reward the fucking shitbags. That is fucking stupid. It encourages them to keep doing what they're doing.

I don't think Hillary is planning to enter this mess, she is looking 4 years out from now. Clark is the only real star on the horizon and hopefully he will carry the day.

Like most military men he is anti war (believe it or not)

The reality is it's divided into two sides, right and left. If you vote libertarian you're only taking away votes from your side(the right). I'd personally rather vote green but as we saw by the last election Nader's votes could have put a left-winger into the whitehouse if they hadn't been wasted.

My problems with Clark are this:

He just recently became a Democrat, and only because Bush didn't give Clark's company any of those juicy Afghan. and Iraq contracts.

Which makes me feel like he is a wolf in sheeps clothing... he just wanted to get back at Bush, and there weren't any spots open in the Republican primary.

And second, and most importantly, is that everyone is hugging this dude's nuts like he is jesus reborn... but the man has said absolutely nothing about where he stands on any issues, or how he plans to get shit done if he becomes president...

I checked Clark's webpage when he first announced to see what his stances were on the issues, but there was nothing on his page to say... I checked back a few days ago, STILL NOTHING!

Unless he says something that I really like, I am staying a Howard Dean supporter... because I vote for SUBSTANCE!!!

Hillary will jump into the ring if there are real indications Bush can be beaten.

If she does not, and Bush is beaten it will mess up her plan to run in 2008.

The Dem party would not allow her to face an incumbent Dem President.

Unfortunatly we are once again facing the lesser of 2 evils. I would love to see a real 3rd party option but the system is designed to not allow that to happen.

Disolve the Electoral College, eliminate all government funding for campaigns and a third party would have a real shot.

It would amaze me if any US-based people here had any clue about Clark's tenure as supreme commander and his actions in Kosovo.

Hello...

I am voting for Clark but I dont think he can win...To make it 2 a 4 star General is a hard thing to do in the military...I am pretty sure you wont find to many hiding things in his life and seems to be pretty reasonable with some common since.

But lets face the facts...the money controls the President

Over the last 20 years we have had either a oil and cig Presidents
The 2 exception where Regan and Clinton...both yes men to the cig and oil fortunes.

I'm US based and I know all the crap that he pulled in Kosovo, and the COMPLETE screw-ups he made of things over there...all and all, his actions almost caused the US to lose against what was basically a third rate military, and he unnecesarily killed a whole lot of civilians doing it. He personally also allowed the US air forces over their to be used as pawns by foreign powers......he was a total mess.

Don't worry, it will start to come out as we get into next year....

Hmmm --

Why did the Clinton administration relieve him of his command a year early?

Why did he order Brits to stop a Russian advance and get a response along the lines of "I'm not going to start WW3 for you Sir."

And some of his meetings in Kosovo... wow.

I'll have to read more of what he has to say...

We need someone who won't sell out under pressure... We need a president that's willing to take a bullet for the good of the people -- someone that has real bravery because really you're up against the $ interests of the whole world when you're leading the USA... Does such bravery exist?

What did this guy do to get his rank? Did he start at the bottom and work his way up?

the only way bush would lose is if a solid conservative opponent rann as a independent and took alot of his vote.

Thats how clinton got in in 1992 when Perot took alot of the conservative vote and clinton won with 41%

Yeah, exactly why did the Clinton administration relieve him of his command after he won that scirmish with not a single allied soldier death? Was it because he was smoking crack? Fucking young cadets? Lying about shit? Hell no, It was because he was too vocal. Not because he did a shitty job. Secretary of Defense William Cohen even told him "Get your fucking face off TV!". There is no "skeleton in the closet" there.

He ordered that because the Russian army was getting ready to advance into Kosovo and occupy it after NATO had defeated Milosovic. They occupied the Pristina airport in direct opposition to NATO commands and agreement. Plus, Clark was ordered by the pentagon to make sure that the Russians did not swarm into Kosovo.

Because General Jackson refused to obey Clark's orders, Russia did storm into Kosovo. The Russian forces established a stronghold , defying NATO demands that they should leave the area. The pentagon was quite upset because the Russian Army demanded that they have their own "peacekeeping" sector in northern Kosovo and that their forces not be subordinated to NATO command. After a month of threats to cut off IMF loans and offers of bribes to Russian civilian and military officials, as well as the cooperation of Hungary and Romania to deny Russia overflight through their airspace, thereby preventing the landing of transport planes to reinforce their troops at Pristina airport, the Russian army finally agreed to integrate their forces into NATO's operations but have, to this day, not withdrawn their forces.

British General Sir Michael Jackson was completely out of line to disobey Clark in that situation. He is the ass, not Clark.

I assume you are referring to the ONE meeting with Ratko Mladic. He was attempting negotiations not handing out military secrets. He did this against recommendations from the pentagon and later apologized for it. That "skeleton" is way blown out of proportion.

You forgot to bring out the skeleton of his possible involvment in Waco. That is the real doozy that is going to entertain the American people for a while. He was the commander at Ft. Hood where they got the military equipment to storm the Branch Davidian compound.

People like to bitch about his flip-flopping party affiliations also. I find that hilarious. I, myself, could give a shit about democratic, republican, independent, green, libertarian, or any other bullshit label. I do not agree 100% with any of the parties, let alone the people that supposedly represent them. Clark jumped on the democratic ticket because he had no other choice if he wants to win. Who really gives a shit if he has been a democrat for 10 days or 10 years? that is the most insane argument I have ever heard.

Shit, I am sure that even Mother Teresa could have some dirt dug up on her if you tried hard enough. But, compare their bad to their good and then make a judgement. Why are you ignoring the things such as his repelling down a cliff to try and save a group of peacekeepers from a burning vehicle (this while he was a 4 star general. Nobody else would attempt it because of the mines and hostiles in the area). Or how about his work with Wavecrest in developing alternate energies to fossil fuels? What about his commanding his platoon after he had his calf blown off and part of his hand (he got a purple heart for that one)? There is more but this post is way too fucking long as it is. My point is that you got to weigh the good with the bad and then decide.

I would vote Mickey fucking Mouse into office to get rid of this current clown-shoe administration but, that aside, I think Clark is one hell of a man and will make an excellent leader. I have never seen anyone with the passion, intelligence, strength, and common sense running for President that Clark excudes.

Plus, he has great hair.

'Last week, over 30,000 of you from my list sent letters to Wesley Clark urging to him to run. And, hey, um -- it looks like it helped! He announced on Wednesday and by Sunday he was #1 in the Newsweek poll on the 10 Democratic candidates. By yesterday, according to the CNN/Time poll, he was nine points ahead of his nearest rival -- and three percentage points ahead of Bush if the election were held today.

But now the hard part begins. In my open letter to General Clark, while strongly encouraging him to run, I told him that I was not yet endorsing him -- I have no plans to endorse anyone at this point -- yet I thought his voice should be heard in this campaign. Why? Because I heard him say things that I think the American public needs to hear.

My wife and I were invited over to a neighbor's home 12 days ago where Clark told those gathered that certain people, acting on behalf of the Bush administration, called him immediately after the attacks on September 11th and asked him to go on TV to tell the country that Saddam Hussein was "involved" in the attacks. He asked them for proof, but they couldn't provide any. He refused their request.'

As the article says though, most Americans would rather him be registered as 'independent' vs 'republican' so it wont do him much harm.

I thought this article was funny though.

General Clark is a 1966 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point where he graduated first in his class. He holds a Master?s Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University where he was a Rhodes Scholar.

General Clark is a recipient of numerous U.S. and foreign military awards, including the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He has received honorary Knighthoods from the British and Dutch governments and was made a commander of the French Legion of Honor. In August 2000, General Clark was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation?s highest civilian honor.

This guy could stomp Bush.

Well the bottom line is he got experience with it. Hopefully he had learned from it.

Making big choices as a 4 star general is not easy.i can almost compare to as being a president. (communicating with foreign leaders, etc, etc)

I was going to let this thread go... but in the face of such stupidity I can't.

Explain to me how Bush didn't win the last election.

Please use election law to back your statements.
