I worked in a shop that sold paintball guns for a few years back in the day.

Apparently the one to go for is the Angel...

nothing beats it, so said everyone I knew

Yeah.. I know the ANGEL LCD is the best. I am not looking to spend $1000 on a paintball gun I want to spend around $100-$300. Is the tipman or pirhana good? I was looking at this site http://www.xpaintball.com

This weekend at the field I used the E-Mag. It's a god damned sweet gun if you feel like paying a little more

The rental guns we have are Tippman 98 Custom. They work in all weathers, don't break very easy and don't require much maintenance. I think they are in the $100-200 range.

No paintball newbie should be running with an Autococker of any sort. Just too much can go wrong and if you're not able to strip and repair your maker on the field if there's a problem...you'll be fucked.

If you've got the bucks to invest, check out the Angel LCD markers. Fucking kick ass, but will run you $1200. Even a newb can show up with an Angel and own.

Spyder E-99 is the best marker on the market under $200.

Personally, I think it's a much better marker. I own an E99 as my backup, and my dad has the Tippman 98. He's always trying to snag my Spyder

Google cut and paste:

CO2 vs Compressed Air
CO2: CO2 is actually a liquid that must be changed to a gas. The Conversion from liquid to gas causes your tank to get cold and the colder your tank gets the less pressure it produces. The Ideal tank tempature is 70 degrees, this is because at 70 degrees liquid CO2 produces about 850psi, which is the average operating pressure needed for optimal performance of most paintball guns. As the tank tempature gets lower the pressure drops and the gun performance drops as well. The faster you pull the trigger on your gun the colder your tank gets. At some point most guns will end up sucking in liquid CO2. This will cause things to freeze inside your gun which will cause your gun to stop working for a short period of time. In most cases CO2 works ok, but if tempaturers are below 50 degrees you can expect to have some problems with things freezing up.

Nitrogen/Compressed air/HPA(High Pressure Air): Nitrogen is basically the opposite of CO2. It is cleaner(makes up about 80% of the air we breathe), which is better for the internals of your gun. Compressed air under pressure it is a gas. This means that there is no need to worry about things freezing up. Compressed Air Systems use a regulator that is usually preset at 850psi, this means that no matter how fast you pull the trigger or how cold the tempature outside is you are getting a consistent 850psi to your gun.

The designation of 3000psi or 4500psi refers to the capacity of your tank. The more pressure you can fill it with, the more shots it can deliver. How many shots will your get? 3000psi tanks deliver about 10 shots per cubic inch (68ci = 680 shots, 47ci = 470 shots, 88ci = 880 shots, 114ci = 1140 shots). 4500psi tanks can deliver 15 shots per inch (68ci = 1020 shots, 88ci = 1320 shots, 114ci = 1720 shots). Shot fired vary with each gun depending on the type of setup you are using.

I didn't realize that there's a new E-99. Still priced under $200 with some new features:

Hopper holds your paint and gun oil keeps the parts lubed.

Inexpensive, but kickass barrel upgrade

That Xtremez store is probably the biggest online paintball supplier. I've ordered from them in the past with no complaints. I always thought of those selling thru the Yahoo stores to just be resellers. If it's a matter of a few $$$, I'd go with the link I mentioned.

Ok, That gun is auto and compressed air correct? The reason i wanna order from the link i posted is because i don't have a credit card now only checking account. So they don't have the new spyder anywhere that accepts checks?

It is out of your price range, but here is what you NEED, if you want to play real paintball:

1. Stock automag (with powerfeed)
2. Revolution hopper.
3. Stick Squeegee.

Your upgrades will then go in this order:
1. Dye 12" 2 piece barrel.
2. Drop forward with HPA (nitro)

Thats it! Now you are tournament level.

Angels go out of timing, cokers go out of timing, spyders are absolute shit, and almost every other gun is a knockoff of the shitty spider. The shocker is too heavy, and likes co2, instead of hpa (crap).

Our 2 teams took 1st and 2nd in a tournament in Kendal, Fl.

If you get an automag, you will never ever be without help, or a parts kit, and there is no more reliable marker in the world.

Forgot, you are also going to need a pack to carry your extra paint (get a 5 or 6 cannister drop out the bottom (not the side, you will get hit in it)). And absolute MUST! JT spectra 260 mask. Go to world cup and see what the best wear. There is no finer.

I just have a Piranha E-Force, I've only played like 6 times in the last few years though, so I don't see a need for something better.

That being said, I love playing and would like to play more (I prefer to play with buddies and its hard getting a few together that want to play)

But damn is it fun to go out for a day and play outdoors, give it all you got and just have a blast for a few hours.

I've tried indoors, - fun but not the same.

So if you play a lot go for something great, if not get something average / rent.

I've never heard anything bad about a tipman, I would probably choose it over the spyder. The quesiton is, for and xtra $100 to $150 bucks, why not have the best, most reliable, tournament grade marker out there? You never have to sell it, ever.

Almost everyone that buys a more expensive marker (angel, anything electronic) keeps their automag as a backup for when their more expensive gun fails, or to hand to friends to play with.

I've played with shockers, cockers, angels, automags, and shot a few rounds out of a tipman. For me, the angel is not as consistant as the mag or cocker (it's accuracy by volume). And For every 1 working properly cocker I've seen, I've seen 2 broken ones.

Back when I had a spyder half the day was spent fixing it, a quarter cursing it on field, and 1/4 having fun playing.

With the mag, its 100 percent fun. No problems, no hassles, and the paint goes right where you want it. (YOU MUST HAVE A REVOLUTION HOPPER ON ANY PAINTBALL GUN YOU WANT TO SHOOT FAST). If you don't you will break paint and cry your way off the field (or use the aforementioned squeegee to clean out all the paint in the barrel and off the bolt before you ever shoot another straight shot).

The good old days.

I am thinking of starting up another team for fun down here in Fort Lauderdale. Anyone have any favorite fields down here?

I started playing PB 8 months ago, I started with the most expensive gun I could find. At that time it was the E-Orracle made by WGP (WORR) Autococker. Ended up spending $3,000 on all the gear.

If anyone plays at Tombstone, Hollywood Sports, Jungle or SC Village, you'll find us. We'll be at Jungle this Sat if anyone is interested in meeting up. I run with the guys who work for WGP and we all have E-Orracles, 22+ balls a second

Personally an automag or minimag would be my choice. They're durable as al hell upgradable to compete with those angel's and cockers and the most important factor...they hold their value.

You can buy and old ass automag, clean it up put a new trigger and valve on it and you're competting at a very high level.

And when you've trashed the hell out of it...you can still get a decent price for it...

Check out ebay, you'll find that the mags are all about the same price while it seems you'll fnd most all other guns will be varying widely in price, why? Because when they get beat up a bit they die...you will definitely need co2 with a mag, but that goes true with most any gun if you want to compete. I've seen some tricked out mags get 9 to 13 balls per second too...same as an angel, and not suffer much drop off. But the spray and pray method has never been my style...which is why I went with a mag...my accuracy is dead on...

Not only that...PB is an expensive habit...and I've watched a ton of kids buy a brand new this and that...get into it and find they couldn't keep up money wise...I'd say get a decent but not overly pricey gun and save some money for some field time.

If you burnout in 4 months and you've got a $1200 gun on your hands...you'll be seling it for $800...and losing money.
