So once yahoo and msn, and then later on maybe aol close their chats, where the fuck are people gonna chat... most internet n00bs don't know about IRC... I'm sure some bullshit service will come in to take its place...

I don't think yahoo will close down the chats.

They recently RADICALLY revamped their yahoogroups section. Chat is rumored to be next.

almost everyone I know that uses msn says irc is too hard...good, stay off. MSN chat is just one step above AOL chat and AOL chatters have always been a seperate breed from irc.

so, I get the train into town today for this course I am taking and an elderly couple sit down in the seats across from me and start reading the headlines from a newspaper outloud to each other (hate when people do that). The lady takes one look at the story and says 'oooh look, that microsoft is closing down all internet chatrooms because of pedophiles' *pause* 'That's good, that, bad places'.

You know what, fuck off. MSN, and yahoo and aol for that matter, are the bottom feeders on the internet but that still doesn't change the fact that if it wasn't for parents treating the internet as a playground and a babysitter there wouldn't be the easy pickingins in the chatrooms for the pedos.

I am so damn sick of hearing parents exuse their neglegence away by saying they don't know anything about computers. The year is 2003, you can't get a basic admin job if you don't know atleast excel and word...there is no excuse. You have kids and you are going to have an internet connection in the house take a fucking class or read a book. Otherwise, don't let them on the computer and what the hell is the deal with kids having internet connections in their bedrooms?

Seriously, unless you plan on buying porn and can provide proof of a credit card I say if you live in the western world and you aren't on the internet already stay the fuck off. They wouldn't let their kids wander around the street on their own talking to strangers (although some of these people might, who know) but they will sit with their fingers up their noses daming the medium when they are the idiots who are putting their kids in danger.
