My family was robbed yesterday.

Sad truth is that it was my sister's fault.

We went swimming for a couple of hours, we put all of our valuables into the middle console of the car, but my sister did NOT lock her door. She got distracted as she was getting out.

Anyway we lost, 2 cell phones, $60.00 cash, credit cards, licenses, social security cards, and she lost a brand new watch.

So I guess it's safe to assume that even before my nieces are old enough to apply for a credit card their credit will be ruined by some low life piece of trash who will probably use their social security cards to steal their identity.

Naw that was the first thing we did, and of course the cell phone #'s, and everything else will be taken care of today.

sorry to hear that, but it was your own fault:

#1. rule - always lock everything.
#2. rule - never leave valuables in a car

#1 already admitted to that.

#2 wasn't really an option.
Nowhere else to store it, and since it's an Isuzu Trooper no trunk.

Nope not possible. I really hope these idiots don't do anything to fuck up my nieces lives...they are only 17 and 11, not even really out of the gates so to speak, and it would be horrible if they were already branded with bounced checks, outstanding bills , etc.

Sure that stuff can be corrected, but it's a nightmare dealing with the credit reporting agencies.

When I go out I only have 3 things --

ID, Debit card, house key, and maybe some cash and I keep them in a paper clip.

That's it

I only have 3 bills. Internet, rent, and phone. Shortly I will eliminate my phone and internet services -- I'm about to go full-time wireless so all I have to do is cut one check to my landlord.

What are you doing rolling around with your Social Security cards and leaving them in cars and such. That's a pretty important document to just leave laying around in a car locked or not.

I have no idea why she had their social security cards. Mine was not in my new wallet, but I do carry it with me at all times.

Just an old habit I guess, I have had to present it on more than one occassion in the past when doing business etc.

Dude you have no idea.

There was another time about 3 or 4 years ago.

I'm driving MY car.

We pull into an office depot parking lot and she reaches over and grabs my keys.

I ask her what she's doing and she says..."I didn't want you to leave them behind."

So I get out of the car and we go shopping.

As we approach the car I ask for the keys...she has this grin on her face and says..."quit kidding."

I tell her I'm not I don't have the keys, she took them out of the ignition.

She says....well when you asked what I was doing with them I put them back into the ignition.

This is of course as I am getting out of the car and shutting the door assuming the entire time she still had them in her hand .

my understanding is to never carry your ss card for that very reason..... a ss is not a valid form of id anyways... there is no pic on it.

Ohh shit, be aware of any fraudulent activity with your SSN's

hope your IDs were in a safe palce?..

I'd better rent a bank safe cell to put all cash and stuff there before going anywhere to hang off.

p.s. Or buy an armoured car

Actually, yes it is. I got a new one last year. You just have to show somebody got ahold of your card or is trying to commit fraud with it.

Guys, you can get a new social security number. I don't know what is involved, but my bank suggested I get a new one when I told them that I had been hacked, and somebody had my SS#, and lots of personal ID info they stole.

The last thing I want to do is change it. You can contact the 3 main credit bureaus and work with them. Get advice from your bank, and call the Social Security office. They have an 800 number.

Identity fraud is rampant. Welcome to the New World Order!

I lost my stuff too dude. Over $1000. Digitial camera, palm pilot, and dreamcast.

The office door cannot be closed without locking it and I lost my key so I leave it open thinking that in US crime doesn't pay.

It seems to me in US, when an act is NOT victimless government don't give shit. They just ramble about pornography but they don't slaughter thieves. When a little boy fuck a hot woman, they cry it is not victimless. WHen that same boy got beaten up in school, they don't care. I've been victim of fraud my self. Cops don't arrest this shit.

You lost $1.5k worth of property because you didn't take preventive measures. You probably have no evidence or clues as to who stole your goods.

What exactly would you like the police to do?

How many people have a car with central locking, and actually check to make sure that all doors are locked properly when they leave it? What happens if an actuator quietly fails?
