Guitar players in the house?
Anyone have an recommendations for a site online that teaches guitar tablature?
I give up on this book reading shit. All my pages are falling out and it seems like it's not THAT necessary to read notes. I already know how to read music well enough to figure out what key something is in. Please save me from Mary had a little lamb. My fingers are bleeding almost and this sucks! |

I bought a red Gibson SG in order to compensate for my small peener. I never bothered with books and all that stuff. I learned to play by messing around for an hour or two every day for several years. What I play and compose is probably technically wrong, but it sounds right to me, so...

I have been playing guitar 19 years now....
Read tons of tabulature to get a handle on scales / modes / and just overall slick moves that sounded "cool" to me. Guitar Chord books are also very good to have to learn the chords and progressions that you will be working with as you play. This is good for getting an idea of how things work technically. Listening to your favorite records as much as possible, watching videos of your favorite players is a great way to see what they are hitting on tunes. Also, GIANT learning tool is to Jam with people. You have to get out there and Jam as much as possible. I spent 2 nights a week for 10 years going to jams with other players and my skills went thru the roof and I was out gigging 5 nights a week at one point in my life. Today, I just play for fun and jam with my crew occasionally. Marriage, family and a house take that time away that you had to dedicate yourself to the guitar. Get a good guitar and a tuner. I play a 59 strat into a Fender Princeton amp and a Marshall 8240 2x12 combo ( about 160 watts of power total) and have a KORG floor tuner. enjoy the music. |
