I've never read the bible either.. that doesn't mean I haven't seen bits and pieces of it, or gotten the general idea what it's about.

Books, are a waste of trees.

Nosnam 09-15-2003 12:21 AM

Tell me, in your own words,

1) What you believe this book is about
2) What sort of research was done for this book, by who
3) How many of the things said in this book have cited refrences
4) What message you believe Al Franken is trying to give his readers

I want to know what your "Bits and pieces" are telling you.

Now why doesnt that comment surprise me.

The Truth Hurts 09-15-2003 12:24 AM

I take that "waste" comment back, as it turns out I actually own 15 books.

7 Steven King
4 Dave Berry
1 Dennis Rodman
1 Mick Foley
1 Jerry Seinfeld
1 Bill O'Reilly

Well, that answers my question as to why you don't want to read Al's book. You believe what Bill O'Reilly tells you, and like your name says, "The truth hurts" and Al points out a lot of things that Bill lies about.

Classic... complete with an unneccessary comma to add some irony!

1) What you believe this book is about
~ Al Franken turning a profit.

2) What sort of research was done for this book, by who
~ Just enough so that he can say "research was done", without being full of shit.

3) How many of the things said in this book have cited refrences
~ Just because someone cites a reference, doesn't means dick. I can cite references that say Michael Jackson is an alien, and Richard Gere has a thing for furry creatures.

4) What message you believe Al Franken is trying to give his readers
~I would hope somewhere in there he expresses a desire for his readers to have a firm grasp of the English language before asking stupid questions. If so, please take his advice.

Yet another bit of irony from you. If you want to turn this into petty insults, because you are clueless about something you are against, perhaps you should get your own firm grasp on the english language.

I hate to stoop to your level, but I can't resist.

The use of "that" in this sentence is incorrect, you shouldn't have put it there. Your comma should have went before the quotation mark.

Shall we continue with pettyness? Please, point out my english errors again, I love your retorts.

So you own the book, and this book makes you think twice about books being a "waste" but you haven't even read it?

The Truth Hurts 09-15-2003 12:43 AM

what's wrong with Gotten?

Main Entry: 1get
Pronunciation: 'get, ÷'git
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): got /'gät/; got or got·ten /'gä-t&n/;

Nosnam 09-15-2003 12:45 AM

You have got to be shitting me, you mean gotten is actually a word? How the hell can the past tense of a past tense word be a word?!

I stand corrected.

You have gotten to be shittinged me.

It's a waste, because I will never read it.

The only ones I actually bought were the Dave Barry books, and I rarely even take them off the shelf.

The first dave barry I ever read, was an editorial an ex girlfriend had clipped, and put on her wall (You know, the typical teenage girl bedroom, with clippings of shit all over) about how useless a Hummer was. I was hooked.
