Typ, USA?

But a lot of the debate in Denmark (and in Sweeden)
is based on some strange idears and "feelings" , not facts
and thats a pity.

like "we know what we got, not what we get" &
"we have a better system than the rest" kind of things
Lots of danes still belive in the last statement
regardless the danish healthcare system is way behind
the rest of europe

When the facts are inconclusive, feelings are all that remain.
The nordic countries are all on the top of UNs welfare lists.... Go figure.

Skitsnack. Förutom språket (för det mesta), har inte olika delar av USA speciellt mycket mer gemensamt än vad till exempel Sverige och Holland har.

Exactly. It was meant to be crucial, but not painless.

The next step would be one powerful parliament ... but most Europeans are still afraid of being governed by an anonymous parliament in Brussels.

They didn't - Turkey wants to but can't :-)

But Russia ... former USSR "republics" Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are going to be EU members in less than a year from now.

Welcum!

Norway isn't Sweden, even though it was under swedish rule for a few centures. Estonia, Latv.., bla - bla..etc, aren't Russia. Besides, If Russia joins EU it won't be EU anymore. Geografically, Russia is divided into two parts: europian and asian parts, then it should be called EAU :ticking

I don't think you can generalize like that and say that all who voted no, only think of their own economy. Many highly educated people also voted no in the Danish vote because they thought Denmark as a whole would be better off without the Euro.

Hi Jeppe,

I don't live in Europe but I read EU news about every day.

What would be wrong about thinking only of one's "own economy"?

NedFLanders 09-16-2003 03:14 AM

I live in sweden I didn't even vote. Fuck it, it's all going to hell anyways.

ADL Colin 09-16-2003 03:45 AM

So what do you all think of an EU military?

Jakki 09-16-2003 04:11 AM

I think we should have a Nordic currency... Denmark, Norway & Sweden... perhaps incl. Iceland? History, Wellfare, economies etc are all more similar than within the Euro-Zone...
I really think it could work :-) Am I missing someting?

There are several agreements between the Nordic country, some of them even older than the EU (EC). And the currency is the same, kronor. :Graucho
