approx 25%.....
Here in Phoenix, 1 bedrooms are about 600.00 per month... houses are average.... 90-100,000.00 California... housing is fucking outrageous... I was there 3 years ago (thinking i was going to move back.. a 2 bedroom at was 1450.00 per month.. I was renting a 2 bedroom townhouse here in Phoenix for 650.00 per month and it was twice the size of the apartment in LA. We have a spare room if you need a place to crash till you find something... as long as you are not a freak or anything... ICQ me sometime.. I will help you out... |

Depends on where you live in the US. Here in Dallas, taxes are around 8.25% for sales tax and then you have income tax that varies. Oh yeah! Property tax. Houses are around $200,000 for a not so decent one.

Na, lived there for 8 years... the beach is the only thing I miss.. I DO NOT miss the expense, the traffic, the polution (love that brown air), waiting in line everywhere you go.... Phoenix would be perfect if it had an ocean next to it... So, when is the next big one? Drop that sucker into the ocean already and give me some beach front property ![]() Oh, I also miss the earthquakes.. those were fun... yea, I'm sick like that. |

a lot of people don't speak english in America but that won't stop you from getting around. There are a lot of tax breaks that the U.S. government gives you through business deductions, cost recovery etc.. The tax that you will ultimately have to pay at the end of the year depends on how much you make. In 2003, the highest tax bracket for a single individual making $311,000+ a year is 38.6%.

when I left California over a year ago, my rent on a one bedroom apartment was around $1700 a month. God only knows what it's up to now.

I'm stunned that we even have to explain this, but... here goes
Ads for houses and apartments focus on how many bedrooms and bathrooms there are in the house, because that determines how many people can live there comfortably. There is *always* a kitchen and *always* a living room area - if there is also a den or family room or sunroom, etc, that will be specified in the ad. Many times if you're sharing an apartment with a roommate, you don't want to have to share the bathroom with a messy person, so you'd look for something with 2 bathrooms. Or if you're a family with two small kids - you need a bedroom for yourself and hubby/wife, at least one bedroom for the kids if not two, and preferably another bedroom you can use as a guest room or an office. So you'd need to look for a house with at least 3 bedrooms, if not 4. I would absolutely *hate* having to look through ads that simply said "3 rooms". Well, what kind of rooms? Is it a full bath or a half bath (just sink, shower, and toilet - no bathtub)? "3 rooms" doesn't tell me anything - that could be a kitchen, living room, and bathroom and there isn't even a bedroom, you've got to use a fold-out couch. That's just... weird. |

Btw, if you want to get away from taxes, California is *not* where you want to move. Don't even get me started on the fucked-up liberal thinking of that state that rules how they make laws and determine taxes.
Plus housing there is automatically at least twice as expensive if not 3-4 times as expensive, simply because it's California. |

Heck with all that. I lived in Southern California for 12 years, and Phoenix off and on for 6. I live in Miami now and I love it! No state income tax, housing is still reasonable, great beaches, very international flavors/people from all over the world, etc....
The only thing I miss is....no mountains, it's very flat. But then again, you can't have everything ![]() ![]() |

How are you planning to make your move there legal?
I've been pondering on how it should be done. How to get a greencard etc.. I can't just move in.
