third level domains and htaccess?

i have a site with a third level domain like niche.domain.com and i want to redirect some missing pages to my main page on the regular domain.com.

will a standard htaccess work or do i need to add something special to it?

thanks in advance for your help.

You could point your 404 to a cgi that redirects to your main page or whatever page you wish...
