The Tatoosh is the 9th largest privately owned boat/ship in the world at 301'8". It can carry 2 helicopters, a 40' speedboat, and a sailboat and has a good size pool onboard. Cost him around $100mil. It was owned for less than a year by Keith McCaw (McCaw Cellular..another big NW name).

The second is the Meduse. It's just under 199'.

He used to own a 153' yacht named the Charade but gave it to his sister.

Of course they are his.

Gates doesn't bother with boats. Even though he lives on Lake Washington here in Seattle, he only has a 'smaller' sized runabout type boat for guests to use.

I can see Coal Harbour from my condo - there are 2 big yachts down there all the time - Nova Spirit owned by jim pattison and some other one called 'Eliminator' or something that has a helicopter on it all the time.

Nice boats. I saw one of his boats up in Naden Harbour in the queen charlottes
a couple years ago. When we landed in masset we
noticed a nice private jet parked there and we wondered
who it belonged to. When we arrived at the fishing
lodge we noticed a big yacht parked across the harbour
and wondered who that belongs to. Later in the day,
after catching some impressive salmon a few of us
went along side the yacht to take a closer look.
Then out pops Paul Allen and asks us "Where can i catch
fish like that?". I didn't realize it was paul allen but one
of the guys we were with immediately recognized him.

- Anyone in this biz make enough money to have a nice
yacht and a jet?

You can get a nice 1 bedroom with a waterfront view starting at $1200-1500 a month. The building I am in always has vacancies you should check it out if you are in the market.

There are loads of vacancies down here currently and for the last year. There is a ton of condo inventory that has been built over the past few years nearby aimed at first-time home buyers and the low interest rates has also boosted the interest in owning, so there is a wierd imbalance in the market as a couple of years ago the vacancy rate was 0.4% and you wouldn't stand a chance getting a place on Beach Ave. where Drinking Hard moved into and where I am a couple of doors down. Now is the time to move down here.

Thanks, I saw some pics that Magnus took of the helicopter landing on it when it was docked near the port in Burrard Inlet and also saw it from a distance when it was in English Bay but couldn't recognize which one it was. I am pretty sure he is one of the 10 richest people in the world according to Forbes, but thought he wasn't into conspicious consumption and displays of wealth like that.
