I agree... And long overdue :2 cents:

I can't say that I am sad that they are gone :)
Apic always forgot to do their homework before contacting people.

Hopefully someone who knows how to deal with people a little better starts something similar.

The concept behind APIC was great. The implementation was the only failure.

I still find it amazing that an organization that was supposed to protect legitimate businesses could have such a horrible image. How hard is it to get support for shutting down thieves? Jeez.

farbie 09-10-2003 05:44 AM

Because they were doing complaints to host that didn't do anything wrong . David was getting comlpaints about some pictures he SHOT HIMSELF . He is the web hoster and he is the one making the gallerise so they sent complain to the hoster on his OWN galleries that had all EXCLUSIVE fucking content . Anyways fuck APIC that was a good idea but it wasn't managed the way it should have been.

The chances of that happening are practically nil.

It will be interesting to see how many sites there are out there in six months time stealing content from you all here who buy, what you will do about it and how many members they will have.

He was eventually brought down be someone harvesting Newsgroups for content and charging people to view it.

No one would disagree with his methods, that is what brought him down in the end members got pissed off with him. But I saw the emails he sent out listing sites with thousands of stolen pictures. And saw how quickly they came down.

Anyone who thinks checking the Internet for stolen content is easy, step up and try.

Dave how the hell did he get the idea that exclusive content shot by you was shot by one of the APIC members and who was the APIC member who informed Steve that you had stolen it? Maybe he mistook it for Suze Randall or Privates work. Or are you blowing in the wind?

Mike I never kissed anyone arse in my life, including yours, never had to good enough at what I do to not have to. Where did you learn?

APIC helped the SCORE Group on many occasions and he will be missed by us.

Copyright infringement is completely out of control online, and I would be the first to admit that Steve sometimes lacked bedside manners, but his cause and much of the work he did was noble.

chodadog 09-10-2003 06:53 AM

He went after legitmate companies. When asked for proof, he threatened them with legal action. The guy was absolutely insane. Charly, i have no doubt that it's a difficult job. I know for a fact that i wouldn't be up for it. But i'm sure that someone will step up and do a better job than APIC did, without stepping on the toes of legitmate and fully legal webmasters.

I hope Steve Easton spends the rest of his sorry ass days wiping shit off urinals. What goes around comes around... Steve Boy...

And to all the people who supported APIC, and you know who you are, you can all go fuckyourself as well. You were well aware what kind of an operation APIC was, and the way that they treated people.
APIC almost cost me my reputation, and not to mention thousands in lost revenue.
And Steve if your reading this, when you come to my home or business trying to sell me a vacuum cleaner, please come in and give me a few hours of demonstration, cause Im going to enjoy watching you on your knees, wasting your time, and cleaning my house... Steve Easton was one of the rudest most disliked people in this business whose reputation for overly aggressive non professional tactics preceeded him with every webmaster he fucking hassled with his bullshit half baked threats and YOU'RE FUCKING MISSING HIM?

Judging by the comments on this thread I think you can count the members of his fan club on one hand.

I don't really care if I'm the only one in this thread that wishes Steve Easton well, I stand by what I said. In the SCORE Group's case Steve helped us even though we were never his client. Someone does that for us and we remember it.

That's great Scoreman! Good for you because you are the ONLY ONE wishing that jerkoff well wishes.

You obviously were never on the receiving end of his fucking bullshit and all the unfair hassles he caused many many webmasters that had done absolutely nothing wrong.

Score has some cool images, but you don't need an unprofessional foul-mouthed sociopath like Easton to protect your property. I never had any run-ins with him but from reading his posts and seeing how he conducts his business he was about half moronic and the other half was total asshole. Webmasters with good intentions would try to deal with him fairly after recieving his initial salvo of threats and insults only to get a second helping thrown in their face. He acted like he knew more than anyone else, he was the savior of the Internet and nobody would exist if not for Saint Mark standing in the gap to bar the heathens.

A year from now nobody will remember his name, I don't think anyone in their right mind would hire him for anything and he deserves to be forgotten.

Kimmykim 09-10-2003 09:00 PM

Steve's bedside manner was worse than Kevorkians, hands down.

Not a bad idea but horrible horrible implementation accompanied by an over indulged ego on Steve's part.

What he said. Thieves need to be stopped but there's a right way to do it and a little intelligence helps too. It was only a matter of time before the arrogant prick went down. He was already a joke to everyone except for the few deluded idiots using him.

Now who has the time, money and more importantly knowledge to start up a decent service?

Steve Easton, under his "non profit" APIC company appears to be back in business, sending out his vigilante notices and harassing ISPs and interfering with business relations again.

It appears more lawsuits will be required to make this person stop making false and asinine allegations.

Kevin2 10-15-2003 05:08 AM

He is back because he sent me an email about images of mine that were hosted on a news group server. When I told him I posted them he said that the news groups server was making money by charging people access to see the images.

I asked him how many pay sites he had run and he said none :1orglaugh

This is actually the biggest pile of shit I have ever seen.
More liars here than Attica.

According to the "Asshole" himself,

APICs servers have never been attacked. No one got phone calls every day at CARI.NET , and most of what is posted here is all about whining little jackasses who probably got their freepages closed for stealing.

Remember who pays you. The affiliate programs all support APIC.
Many are members. And if the "Asshole" wasn't a bully, nothing ever would have been accomplished.

The mentallity of this board and most of this site, truly lives up to the stupidity of it's name and the majority of it's users.

Be careful about making generalizations. Many of the posts in this thread slamming Easton are from affiliate program owners (not mention content producers).
