Netbilling and Card Service Intll... wtf?

I was just about to get with Netbilling, pay the $2400 and all that.

They had a rep from Card Service International call me and answer all my questions.

Now I see the nasty thread about Card Service International, and I realize its only one or two cases, but I got total cold feet. Why should I let card service fuck me and I have to pay $2400 for it when Globill and lots of others will do it for free?

Sure would like to hear from Card service/Netbilling clients some reassuring words, but not being able to get through to CS is the first sign of a wall of misery as far as I am concerned, no matter what the details here.

Stay away from CSI.

Ask Mitch if hes got any other companies to deal with -- he mentioned he did before.

The thing with CSI is they approve more high risk merchants with poor or no credit (and probably) kick back higher commissions to the referring vendors.

That alone is lucrative to vendors in Mitch's position who wants to get their new clients setup & online ASAP.

Mitch knows the deal.

NetBilling seems like a great company... if I was processing I would use them for sure.

But you couldn't pay me enough to process a penny through CSI.

note: by 'high risk merchants' I meant high risk based on the merchants credit profile, not thier business model. I forgot that "High Risk" has become a term for "Online Adult" these days.

The problem is that they don't have any other banks to deal with. When they hear "adult" they send it to card services.

Nah... afaik, Mitch has other people to deal with.

If people said "F that.. no CSI for me."

Mitch isn't going to shrug and say... oh well, sorry then.

He's going to hook you up with someone else.

(I would think).

You gonna have to understand that Netbilling and Merchant providers are two different entities

Netbilling is a gateway provider to the merchant

Find another merchant if you don't feel comfortable with them.

Been using netbilling for over a year with 0 problems. Now dealing with merchants is another story.

I have excellent credit and 22 years incorporated, but Netbilling referred to me to card services for the merchant account. I understand very well the difference but they didn't offer any alternatives for a (relatively) small volume adult account.

Strange I haven't heard anything positive about card services here, when most of netbillings new clients sign with them and most seem happy with netbilling.

We have worked with CSI for 7 years. They are not perfect but we receive our money everyday and I have no complaints.

They are owned by FDC one of the largest financial services companies in the world and have the muscle to stay in business.

We picked authorize.net for Akira Web since it's web hosting. We had the option to use CSI or authorize.net but authorize.net I have heard about all over, and it seems they've been around a while. I wasn't aware that CSI accepted adult sites though, that alone might be reason enough to get a account with them.

Netbilling and your merchant account are two seperate things.

You can go get your own merchant account, and connect it to netbilling if you want. (assuming of course netbilling supports their means of whatever-the-hell.

I know we have a client who went out on their own and found a high-volume merchant account for their adult stuff (offshore I believe, but we're talking $400-500k/mo in volume), and are in the process right now of getting their sites connected to netbilling for processing.

We also use netbilling and CSI for our hosting operation. At another company we're involved in, we have netbilling and another (non-adult) merchant provider.

Other options are available for non-adult. Adult may pose much more of a problem, especially if you're looking for (lower discount rate) a domestic bank. If you look offshore (and also pay a higher discount rate) you can probably find something that fits your needs as well.

Card service international is a really screwing company. I used them breifly with authorize net. Never sent me a bill. And then authorize net changed their office and phone number. I sent a few emails and called card service international. But never got my stuff working. When I signed up I was supposed they got all my bank info to take the monthly fees out of my checking acount. Well to make a long story short my credit report has one ding from authorizenet. Other than that I have perfect credit.

Never got the damn thing online to process. Maybe you'll get it working if you use netbilling. But those other two companies are terrible. Stay away.

Phil,

You are right... an adult merchant will always pay a higher discount rate than a mainstream merchant.

You know what's sad?

The fact that we all work in a double digit billion dollar industry, and no one wants to process for us!

Somehow, somewhere, someone screwed up when it comes to practicing capitalism properly.

What numbers? The adult industry as a whole rivals the Hollywood movie industry. It also rivals the videogame industry as well as the music industry.

And the online portion of that is only a tiny slice of the pie...

Still a large enough slice for smaller banks that are looking for some cash flow for growth.
