My youngest daughter - who is in her early 20's caught us listening to PF and told us we shouldn't be listening to such modern stuff at our age - she thought it was something that had just been released.

Favourite track - got to be MONEY :thumbsup :thumbsup

Bigjohn 08-21-2003 09:13 PM

Pulse was an awesome two disc set... and as a bonus I got to watch my case blink for almost 4 years!

eroswebmaster 08-21-2003 09:26 PM

My favorite Floyd song is comfortably numb.

I was peaking off some good acid in a mercado down in Mexico and they had some huge tv's with The Delicate Sound of Thunder concert video playing.

Right then I realized no one has truly caught the essence of a good buzz, or a deep depression like they did with that song.

I fucking love it.

SexxxyChat-T 08-22-2003 12:23 AM

My favorite Floyd tune is "High Hopes", in fact thats my favorite song period.

Far-L 08-22-2003 01:02 AM

"Obscured by Clouds", "Animals", and all the Syd Barrett stuff...

The wall is probably my favourite then several are on par with each other for second. I never could get into early floyd when Syd was still around.

Saw them in concert on the last tour. Awsome.

Evil Chris 08-22-2003 06:38 AM

I like "Have a Cigar"... :)

i like meddle....the wall...animals

Sheep is one of my favourite songs

just hit play on meddle...entire album

Roxxy 08-22-2003 08:00 AM

Floyd rules... no doubt about that. As for a favorite album, that's a tough one. I'd have to say either "wish you were here" or "darkside of the moon". Honestly though, I love all of them.:)

You want people to randomly pick one song out of 1000's?

Far-L 08-22-2003 09:44 AM

Atom Heart Mother is fantastic...

Piper at the Gates of Dawn...

Saucerful of Secrets...

Love the early stuff....

Check out a film called "Zabriskie Point" for some excellent Floyd you won't find on any of their albums...

Ice 08-22-2003 09:47 AM

Floyd rocks :thumbsup

Roger Waters Radio Kaos is another great cd

Far-L 08-22-2003 11:18 AM

"Free Four" (from Obscured by Clouds, Pink Floyd)

The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You suffle in gloom in the sickroom
And talk to yourself 'till you die.

Life is a short, warm moment
And death is a long cold rest.
You get your chance to try
In the twinkling of an eye:
Eighty years, with luck, or even less.

So all aboard for the American tour,
And maybe you'll make it to the top.
And mind how you go.
I can tell you, 'cause I know.
You may find it hard to get off.

You are the angel of death
And I am the dead man's son.
And he died like a mole in a fox hole.
And everyone is still in the run.
And who is the master of fox hounds?
And who says the hunt has begun?
And who calls the tune in the courtroom?
And who beats the funeral drum?

The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You suffle in gloom in the sickroom
And talk to yourself 'till you die.

sugar 08-22-2003 11:29 AM

On balance...has to be The Wall

Saw them live at Earls Court a few years back..second half of the show they did Dark Side of the Moon from start to finish..mindblowing..

TheGuyWhoKnows 08-22-2003 12:32 PM

The Final Cut...

one of their best...

traffictrader 08-22-2003 01:06 PM

I think roger waters is the best song writter of all times.

The Wall is my favorite album, but I'll admit my favorite song is from dark side of the moon.

Ticking away the moments that make up the dull day

You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way

Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town

Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain

You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today

And then one day you find that ten years have got behind you

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And you run and run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking

And racing around to come up behind you again

The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older

Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time

Plans that either come to naught or a half page of scribbled lines

Hanging on in a quiet desperation is the English way

The time is gone the song is over, thought i'd something more to say

buzzard 08-22-2003 01:29 PM

My favorite band ever. Just about every song is a masterpiece.

Saw them live, oh the lazer lights and flying pigs....
Don't think written words can describe them, would have to be a song; a Pink Floyd song of course!

Evil Chris 08-22-2003 01:32 PM

Anyone from Toronto reading this?

Back in around 1984, I went to the McLaughlin Planetarium in Toronto and saw "Laser Floyd"...

An amazing laser light show in a planetarium, all done to the music of Pink Floyd. I wonder if they even still do this?

I seen something very similar about the same exact time except it was at the Hayden (sp?) planetarium in NYC

"And I am not frightend of dying,
anytime will do...
Why should I be afraid to die, theres no reason for it,
You gotta go sometime"

I've seen that before, I am not sure if it was in Toronto or if it was in Pittsburgh. They also did it to Pearl Jam...great show.

Cyndalie 08-22-2003 02:02 PM

Favorite Waters Album .. Amused to Death

"We watched the tragedy unfold
We did as we were told
We bought and sold
It was the greatest show on earth
But then it was over
We ohhed and aahed
We drove our racing cars
We ate our last few jars of caviar
And somewhere out there in the stars
A keen-eyed look-out
Spied a flickering light
Our last hurrah

And when they found our shadows
Grouped around the TV sets
They ran down every lead
They repeated every test
They checked out all the data on their lists
And then the alien anthropologists
Admitted they were still perplexed
But on eliminating every other reason
For our sad demise
They logged the only explanation left
This species has amused itself to death

No tears to cry no feelings left
This species has amused itself to death"

Favorite Floyd Ambum.. Momentary Lapse of Reason

"Was it love, or was it the idea of being in love?
Or was it the hand of fate, that seemed to fit just like a glove?
The moment slipped by and soon the seeds were sown
The year grew late and neither one wanted to remain alone

One slip, and down the hole we fall
It seems to take no time at all
A momentary lapse of reason
That binds a life for life
A small regret, you will never forget,
There'll be no sleep in here tonight "

Great Thread Chris!

Cyndalie 08-22-2003 02:07 PM

Can't you see? It all makes "Perfect Sense"

" When you add it all up
The tears and the marrowbone
There's an ounce of gold
And an ounce of pride in each ledger
And the Germans killed the Jews
And the Jews killed the Arabs
And the Arabs killed the hostages
And that is the news
And is it any wonder
That the monkey's confused
He said Mama Mama
The President's a fool
Why do I have to keep reading
These technical manuals
And the joint chiefs of staff
And the brokers on Wall Street said
Don't make us laugh
You're a smart kid
Time is linear
Memory is a stranger
History is for fools
Man is a tool in the hands
Of the great God Almighty
And they gave him command
Of a nuclear submarine
And sent him back in search of
The Garden of Eden "

My best mate who kicked it last year had a real good 5 seconds of mug shot in the film - Me? Fuck all!

RyanL 08-22-2003 02:59 PM

Who is Pink Floyd?

Dark Side Of The Moon was sweet!
The Wall along with the movie was good as well!

:thumbsup

Mikey_219Inc 08-22-2003 04:03 PM

I think david gilmour is a puke ... i heard somewhere (ok forgive me if i heard incorrect info) that he actually hired songwriters to make "the division bell" sound like pink floyd ... the early stuff with syd barrett was cool and freaky, but lets face it, roger waters is the shit ... final cut, animals, all damn good shit ... and if you wanna hear some really cool shit, listen to jeff beck go apeshit on amused to death ... i forget the name of the song, but he does an amazing melodic solo on this song, "christ its freezing inside, the veteran cried, the hyena ... the meadow and the fog rolled in bottle of gin .. whatever i dont know the name of the song :)

eric clapton on pros and cons of hitchhiking is nice too ...

and oh shit, i love in the movie the wall when whos his fuck ... god dammit. Geldof (bob?) .. hes screaming "youll just have to claw your way through this disguise!" ... i like that better than the original, and the extra tunes on the movie ... "kind old king george, wrote mother a note .... AND NO ONE SURVIVED FROM THE ROYAL FUSILIERS COMPANY C!"

god dammit time to grab the CDs

"WHEN THE TIGERS BROKE FREE" Excellent song!

It was just before dawn one miserable morning
in black forty-four
when the forward commander was told to sit tight
when asked that his men be withdrawn
And the generals gave thanks as the other ranks
held back the enemy tanks - for a while
And then the Anzio beachhead was held for the price
of a few hundred ordinary lives
