It's cheaper to mint coins in the long run than it is to print bills, collect them, destroy them and print more. While I can appreciate coins and have gotten use to them living in Canada, there is something to be said about a one dollar bill. And having a dollar bill as opposed to a dollar (Or two dollar) coin prevents idiots at strip bars from heating the coins up with a lighter and throwing them at the girls.

Correct, we use what is known as a "fiat currency", a debased coinage that has never, not once in the entire history of mankind, been able to prove itself.

I don't understand why the US doesn't change it's notes look completely. It took the whole europe 3 months to change all bills, and even currency. Why couldn't the US do something like that, that would fuck them hoarders up.. and make your money harder to counterfeit.

Now that you mention it, hasn't the dollar been falling ever since they started rolling out new prints three years ago? More paper doesn't necessarilly help the economy. In fact, it can lower the value in overall global trading. However, it can help the economy by increasing our exports.

The only people this screwed were the little mom and pop guys that had a little black money saved up for a rainy day. Do not for a second think that this stopped the big coporate black money cheaters from having their lawyers figure out a way to change thier old currency into euros.
