This German moron used Brutus/AET to try more than 35,000 passwords on one of my mainstream sites.

Police said they would forward the report to the district atorney and he would forward it to Interpol.

As evidence is pretty clear the police seemed to take the case serious. Let's see if I get any feedback.

Evidence is never pretty clear with that sort of stuff. Basically, if the police didn't examine server logs themselves from every server between yours and his home pc, chances of anything happening are slim to none. He'll probably just get a warning.

I am not even sure if scanning for passwords is illegal in germany as long as you don't use the found ones.

I know for sure that scanning ip ranges for trojan infected computers is not illegal as long as you don't break into the found ones.

so checking if the door is open seems to be legal, going into the house isnt.
