Paxil/antidepressant withdrawal?

I have been trying to get off this shit for 6 months. Every time I stop taking it I get extreme dizzy spells.

Has anyone else had any sort of withdrawal symptoms from antidepressants?

You wanted to stop feeling emotions eh? Now pay the price.

Question : How do antidepressants work?

Scientific answer : We don't have a fucking clue but it works.

You are a fucking moron. Read the prescribing literature sometime.

Suzuki:

Yeah... I cold turkeyed Paxil about 2 weeks ago. Dizzy spells, vertigo, weird feelings, vivd dreams, zaps etc. Its not medically dangerous at all.. just uncomfortable. It goes away in about a week.

It was an involuntary cold turkey btw.. my prescription ran out and I waited until my new insurance kicked in to get more. Just wanted to check out the horrific withdrawal everyone talks about. Its not so bad really. You jsut gotta remember that no matter how bad it feels for the moment its not dangerous in the least, and if you stick it out it'll go away.

I did that awhile ago - you definitely need to not loose focus that you are feeling the way you do because *it is* withdrawl.

Take care.

Cheers,
Matt

Yea, its uncomfortable as all hell. The only thing I would possibly immagine as being more on the medical side is if you are taking it for panic attacks and you happen to trigger one while witdrawing.

If your just treating general depression it should be ok in about a week.

I'm kinda pissed off that the withdrawal symptoms for me include no attention span, I cant concentrate at all. Which means no work. Which means I dont quit...

Bah...

Just did a quick search and found this for ya:

Antidepressant Seroxat tops table of drug withdrawal symptoms

Frpm another site:
" And going off the medication, some New York patients say, causes symptoms like extreme nausea, dizziness, crying spells and "electric shock" sensations. GlaxoSmithKline insists Paxil is non-habit forming, but some former Paxil users say they went through hell when they quit popping the pills.

"When I stopped taking it, I got so sick I couldn't function. It was like temporary insanity," said Ann Cantera, of Sayville, L.I., who began taking Paxil for pre-menstrual depression.

"I was crying and crying and crying, and consumed with suicidal thoughts."

Several psychiatrists in major New York hospitals told The Post they now avoid prescribing Paxil, choosing other antidepressants instead. They said Paxil causes more weight gain and sexual dysfunction than similar drugs - and has the worst withdrawal problems. GlaxoSmithKline - which heavily advertised Paxil after the 9/11 attacks - says the drug is safe but advises users to taper off the medication to avoid "discontinuation symptoms." "

That's from
http://www.researchprotection.org/infomail/1002/25.html

Looks pretty tough to beat. I'll cross my fingers for ya!

thx for the advise

The problem is that im taking it for panic attacks...i think i can deal without medication it but you never know. The fear of having another one is the only factor wanting me to continue with the pills. But the negative press i've been hearing about it wants me to get off it.

you have to reduce the dose very slowly-2 weeks at a time at each dose until you are off
