Salt or freshwater?

Both are awesome. Salt definetely has the coolest fish but is a truckload more work. I have a 20 gal hex fresh and want to get something bigger soon.

Definitely saltwater, it is so much more worth it especially if you get into reef keeping. Saltwater tanks are easy to maintain if you do them right the first time and research the stuff you put into the tanks. You can almost make a saltwater tank completely maintenance free if you set it up the right way from the beginning.

Saltwater tanks are cooler, but make sure you do some research and know what you're doing before you start. The cost of fucking up and killing saltwater fish is significantly higher than freshwater for the most part.

saltwater can be verry nice but if your a starter get a fresh water tank first for 2 3 years see if you can keep the conditions stable in that , weekly refreshing at least 10% of the water and don't take the agressive kind of fish

good advice! im now a few months into my first freshwater tank. maintenance is moderately low now that everythings stable (cleaning, changing filters, plant & fish feedings, water replacement, etc.).

i've switch up from cichilds to an albino oscar, a neon gourami, pleco & convict. the cichilds i had before we're WAY too agressive. i highly suggest the albino oscars! very cool colors, markings & fun to watch!

Simple! Dig a hole in your hard. Buy a plastic shape pool lining
Fill with water add a waterfall pump system Drop 3-4 Plecos in there buy some cheap Koi at Wal-mart and your set!

:tongue

I used to have an oscar too, mine was much more aggressive than the cichlids I had...one time I fed him and he jumped out of the tank onto the floor and was flopping around... little asshole tried to attack me! I watched him struggle on the floor for a bit to make sure he knew who was boss and then I put him back in..no more incidents after that...hehe
