The parents conceived the children equally so unless the child has done something to seriously alienate the parent they should be treated equally.

Definitely not.

I have two sisters, both smart by the book but completely useless in the real world. When my parent's die, it is a couple of million dollars, and they get shit. Why? Because they'd blow it. So give it to the savvy son who will take care of them for the rest of their lives with the same money.

Or, a buddy of mine, who's loaded dad just died and had three boys, had it done like this: the funds are looked over by an attorney, safe investments and the like. The kids can't touch the bulk, though the all got a sort of cash bonus. Now the rest of the money will last for the rest of their lives, and they get a decent check every month.

I told my mother that she should get a will and she informed me that she is leaving her house to my youngest brother cause she feels that he will never get his own house and he has done a bit of work around her place..

He use to own his own place when they lived back east a few years ago...

He makes more than my husband and his wife when she is working makes good money.

I don't care that I don't get any cause her parents gave me a house in 87 and I took a first on it after living in it for 10 years ,bought my current place and should it last year for a profit. I am now double my current house with the money.

I feel what she is doing is not fair to my other brother who paid his own way through college and has been buying his own place for 8 years or so..

I do not have children but I do have "step" brothers and sisters that the bulk of my assets will go to. Two are very responsible and two are not very responsible people at all. I have taken this into consideration...so my will is set up that all will get an equal share but my oldest brother will be in control of the monies that are issued to the irresponsible two...and he will have the power to issue monies to them at his descretion.

I am the oldest and the most responsible.

I think this is my pay back cause I don't take my mother's multiplating shit and I moved an hour away for my girls to go to a better school...

Well my mother (at least the woman that I call mother and take care of) is quiet well off...thanks to PF and the fact that she inheirted money from her parents. I do not know how her will reads...but I am not her real child so I do not know how I will fare in her will...but I am satisfied that she will not leave me out...but I do not particularly care one way or the other.

Are your girls in college now and what college do they attend...if you care to say?

I edited it.. I am tired. I drove to Sacto , picked up my mom and took her to a county fair that she wanted to go in past san fran. Girls and I spent 3 hours looking at exhibits with her and she would not even let us stop to eat until 4:30.. grrrrrrrrrrr

They have a few years left of high school..

My youngest wants to start at an university.

Ideally yes, because it would avoid a whole lot of resentment and maybe a court challenge of the wills validity. Sometimes though you've got not choice but to protect someone from themselves (and protect what you've build over your life) by keeping big liquid assets out of their hands.

I told my hub that we need to do a will soon . I know I would make everything equal between my kids cause I love them equally.

Guess I am thinking about that kind of stuff cause we don't know if hub has a tumor yet...

I set my will up so that my somewhat irresponsible brother and sister will not have the opportunity to squander "their" money...my oldest brother will insure that they have money as they need it and will not despense it so that they can just blow it. They will resent me for doing it that way and they will resent him...but tough shit...they will at least have money available for the necessities of life as they need it. If they...with time...develop a sense of responsibility (in other words grow up) I am sure that he will give them the remaining funds...in a lump sum.
