Anyone else screwed by taboomoney/mistress?

I don't get it - why do you work 2-3 days for 100 bucks LOL

cus I was trying to be nice to the guy, and I'm doing modular commercial tgp scripts soon. He wanted me to do it for $50 to start! ... so what happens? I offer him $100, pretty good deal cus I've been paid that much before for projects a fifth of the size, and he totally screws me for 9 days instead of 2-3 ... not only fucked for the money, but also for time cus of the way he did it. In my opinion, taboomoney = shit

regardless of the price, its his choice to work for whatever he wants.

Trust me, I was tempted ... I think the bastard had fun toying with me for 9 days ... this is the 3rd guy in a row, and I'm used to getting fucked over by certain types of people, but NEVER by an adult webmaster until mistress (and I've done php for adult sites for 2-3 years alone) ... and of course the bastard did it knowing that it left me in a very baaaaaad $$$ situation...

I can relate. I got screwed twice since summer alone. Being left in a baaaaad $$$ situation is horrible thing. Sometimes just a 100 dollar job not being paid can be what breaks a person at the wrong time.

I am still debating if I even want to do work for people at all any more. Might just apply it to my own stuff. Too bad though.. many people are quite happy with what I have done for them.

lol, thanks for pointing that out - yeah, this was "only $100", but what happened was I got fucked by 2 people before him, the total was $250-275, and this guy made me waste a week and a half, which puts me in a horrible situation with a VERY pissed off landlord wanting $$$.

I cant believe you guys are wining about $100! First of all, you shouldnt place your work on the clients server before you got paid... just put it on a test server and show it to him. Secondly, you should ask for 30-40% upfront. Thirdly $100 for two days is a shame, you should be charging that for like two hours of work... PLEASE DONT LET YOUR KNOWLEDGE GO FOR SO CHEAP... ITS JUST BAD FOR THE INDUSTRY AND FOR OTHER CODERS! I have been coding in PHP, ASP, CFML for the past 7 years and your rates are puting us all at risk of becoming low wage worker!

#1 money is money. You don't see telephone companies saying "It's only $100, lets let him off the hook"

#2 What people charge for services is their own business. None of yours. He charged low rates becuse he wanted to. Maybe to stay competitive? Maybe to build a lrge base of clients before he ups the prices? Who knows... it's his business. Not yours.

#3 At the wrong time, being ripped $100 can ruin someone's day especialy if money is tied up and rent is due.

I think iwantchixx has everything covered, but no I did not put it on his server, I'm not that dumb, however its still 9 days of wasted time and $100 I was promised that I never got ... I dont see whats wrong with $100 for a project that takes about 2 days, because a lot of that 2 days is easy stuff, like discussing the project with the client and stuff, it's hard enough finding work now, charging low rates kinda helps. That's why I posted a separate topic a couple days ago looking for people who needed scripting :-p hint hint

here it comes, my side of the story!



Its WHOLE thingy started from post i made here:WANTED: PHP coder!

This guy replied by ICQ on 25th of October, he seemed to me a nice guy and everything seemed to start working fine. I showed him my current picpost located here:

and asked him just to redo it in PHP because i think PHP is faster, and you dont need to hassle with all those permissions and stuff...

Plus I explained him that, (the major reason i wanted to redo it) , I need "better" admin because my current admin does not update picpost without resubmitting again

Guy said that its Ok. That he has tgp module and he will be using it.

I am not programmer myself, I said "ok, but you gotta show me it" from time to time, because i dont want you to do UNnecessary stuff or be gone TOO FAR and then UNdo it. He said ok.

We both agreed on price, that was $100.

I was glad because for this price I was expecting it to be done in 1-2 days maximum, because guy sounded like "knowledgeable person" but i did not know how i was mistaken...

Guy started to whine that he was ripped off by 2 webmasters from Canada - by one 4 days ago, by another one - 5 days ago. He made a work for them and they did not pay.

He asked me to pay him $10 ahead, so this way he will work faster

I said "Come on, dude, is that a deposit or what? lol".

He said that "because store closes in 30 mins and he wants to buy some food". That way if he eats some food, he will be more efficient to work under my project and going to finish it "even today"


...to be honest I was little bit surprised by this, but i understand that we all have "problems" and btw $10? whats to talk about?

Phew... of course i sent him those $10...but for what... for food?

I told him that I dont want MySQL. I had no luck with it whatsoever. I am not comfortable with it and would like to have things simple and have DBs to be done in text file (exactly like i have on my current PicPost and many other scripts having them (text DB) including AGP PRO.

I personally have mysql on my server, some sites are running using it, but i dont see why should i have it if similar script like current PicPost not using it

Then this dude, started to push me, his client. Saying things like "I dont understand why you DO NOT want to use it? its great! Its fast!" and stuff like that...

...so after HOURS OF ARGUING about MySQL i gave up...

Then guy did not appear during a day time for another 5-6 days. On 5th or 6th day I CAUGHT HIM at approx 12 AM and asked him regular "Hello, how are things going?"

He said something like "I am working on backend DBs"

I said "ok, can you show me anything? just anything? Because i dont want you to do UNnecessary work?"

He said his usual "Not yet, later!"

Then in 1-2 AM approximately I bugged him again "ok, can you show me anything? just anything?"

He replied "Eating"

Then in couple of hours his ICQ status became Offline, not even UNavailable, and i went to bed.

On the next day I asked him "Why he ALWAYS is not available during a day time?"

We are in same time zone, besides we are in same state.
And guess what did he tell me?

He said that he is hiding from his landlord...And dont want his landlord to see him during a day...

Finally, on 2nd of November guy showed me submit page for my future PicPost

I tried to test form, but found some bugs:

- it did not give any error messages if some fields were left blank
- it just refreshed form and clear all fields

I asked him to place an Error messages on second page like i have on my current picpost submit page.So whatever field is empty it will create Error on second page.

He added them on top of submit form.

I asked him to make error messages on second page again.

He said "NO!"

I said what do you mean NO? My current picpost works this way...Is it a problem to do?

He started to pull some like "You did not want it!". I said "You never asked for it", and besides I asked him to do picpost like i have now...

...with same messages, same everything, just modify admin area soit will update picpost without resubmitting again

...and I asked him to show me what he's got every damn hour, and only on 9th day he showed me submit page

We started to argue and broke up our conversation.

But thats not all, i came back to him, i knew guy did "some" work, spent some time...,I really did not want to hurt his feelings...So I came back...

We fixed thOSE submit page Errors (i guessed to implement it in html, like its on current picpost) made a preview page.
Everything was working fine until he showed me admin config page...

...Before like I said, I asked guy to improve admin, so it willupdate picpost without resubmitting again and fix Email and Domain blacklisting...Thats all!

He did HELL OF THE CONFIG that i DID NOT ORDER, with features that i DID NOT WANT...

At first glance I liked, but it had SO MANY features, so it was TOO COMPLEX and I wanted half of them in config.php and another one on templates with extension .tpl. I asked the guy to do it...

He said something like "Err,No!

I wanted to change EMAIL and DOMAIN feature to be working ONE PER LINE. I asked the guy to do it...

He said something like "No! If I will put it on templates it will cost more!


So i decided not to pay the guy untill he will do like i asked him to.

We agreed NOT to ARGUE about script before, but i dont think it will work out this way!



Well OUTCOME is:


- PRO did $100 script, having a module or whatever, for long 9 days of my time, wasting my time making me sit and wait for him;

- guy appeared during night time only because of his landlord;

- he did completely different work (admin) and inconvenient for me, absolutely different that i have now and than I asked;

- he is absolutely not listening the client, "doing his own job" kinda guy, then when he finally "made it" without showing me, every my wish to change this or that feature turned out to be NO! and then ARGUING

- now this guy like a cocky linatic screaming all over boards

PS.Now, I ended up to screw guy's future because like he said, he got NOTICE OF EVICTION that night when he showed me first element of his 9-day-work and his future depends on that $100



I do really want to know what are you all thinking about this?

Now that explain everything... who's the newb now!

BTW IWANTCHIXX I wasnt talking to U... Didn't you parents teach you to MIND YOUR OWN F****** BUSINESS!

AND ALSO 6.25$ an hour to code is stupidly low... Don't you agree with me? If you don't you must be from some third world country where 6.25$ per hour make you the richest person in the country. In my country, 6.25$ an hour is below the minimum wage and illegal!

Unfortunatly, my rate are not as "cheap labor" as your friend up there but I can most likely do in 2 hours what he does in 2 days at $50 an hour!
