nice truck. i was gona buy the escalade - it had a larger moter which was nice, but I didn't like the full time 4 wheel drive. same size gas tank too so i figgured I'd never pass a gas station. once avalance came out with one that didn't have all the plastic on it I decided on it - autotrac with the ability to switch from 2 to 4 wheel drive is much better. on the FULLY loaded avalance other than the smaller engine (5.3 vs 6L) and not having the SPECIAL cadilac paint job EVERYTHING else is the same, for $20K less, plus I get autotrac and you don't. i took the $20K and bought me 2 quads. na na ne na na

and I spent most of my trip to flordia crusing in my ad broker's 55SL mercedies -it's faster than you car...hehehe - and HE doesn't have any car payments either........

Shok is trying to convince me to get the Avalanche instead of an F150. Did you drive an F150? Just wondering what the comparisions are.

Are you kidding? How so?

The only thing cool is the absurd redline. There are a bunch of asian fast and furious looking kids that drive these around... it is a kid's car. And, it isn't that fast, but it will beat most cars off the line because you have such a huge powerband.

well you get more storage room and seating room in the avalance. get one without the plastic sides though - they look horrible with all the plastic on them. mine was a special order - it's actually $750 less without all the plastic. I would have paid $5000 more to not have it.

GMC has onstar, it's cool, ford doesn't.

GMs hold their resale value here much better too.

I don't have any payments either :winkwink:
I was looking at the avalanche but decided I liked the extorior or the ext a little more. I like all the chrome on the truck and how they used an actual body part instaid of plastic on the back part.
What's autotrac? The escalade has stability control, and traction control.

Either way, cool truck man

autotrac is a control system that senses when one tire slips and sends power to the others. it allows you to drive in 2WD but engages 4WD whenever needed - saves feul economy. not a big cost concern but allwos me to make less trips to the gas station which wastes time. similar to traction control in some ways but better for fuel economy. i can choose between autotrac, 2WD, 4H and 4 low (electronically)

i didn't realize that the escalade had actual body part on the back piece. i thought it was plastic too. had avalance not come out with trucks that had no plastic on the sides I would have bought an escalade.

i forgot about the stability control, avalance doesn't have it. I didn't really notice a difference though on my test drives with and without it . If i remember right you have a little wood on your dash too that the avalance doesn't have.

the escalade is definatly a step up. I just couldn't understand why they put in full time 4wd instead of autotrac. seemed STUPID to me. with autotrac I probally would have bought the escalade.

( iwas teasing brad shaw about the payments - not you)

Thanks!!! :thumbsup I HATE that they're making all these 4X4 w/ AWD. If you actually USE your vehicle for 4WD, you need 4WD lo. It's getting harder and harder to find something that's got some "luxury" on it that's not AWD. :(

Needs to come down an inch or two.

I dont know whether to spring for lowering springs or new suspension in general. I hear just swapping out springs makes it a shitty ride.

Naaa... new springs wont be shitty... they make the ride a bit stiffer naturally. you will get about 1.4 inches dropped max.

Now, if you want to go with adjustable coilovers, you will get better handling but you will still have the stiffness.

Either way, it will feel much more rigid.

That was my question. My SUV is about the same speed as one of those, and 3 times the size. 6 seconds is quick, it's not FAST. My sedan is almost a full second quicker.
