Slow ass PC help.

Hey guys,

I need a little tech help.

My PC has really slowed in the past week or so. It runs on slow motion when I wanna see stuff like "All Prgrams" from "Start" or when I wanna see "Favorites" or just basically opening up a folder.

Internet browser is fine.

I did a defrag, cleand up my disc and still same. Ive used up only 5 gigs of 40.

XP Pro
P3 733
384 ram
2nd HD for backups only

Any ideas?

In all honesty you are already running on the low end as far as memory specs go..

To really run XP you should have at LEAST 512.. Really no reason not to crank it up seeing as how RAM is so cheap (at least it was)

best you can hope for is shutting down as many proggies as possible..

Disable alot of shit on start-up..

Reboot once a day.. some programs like to retain memory even after shut down.

Might want to try something like

http://download.com.com/3000-2086-10...ml?tag=lst-0-3

Just to get a look at your memory usage and what is using it up.

Video card?

XP needs a better video card than earlier windows.
