I tell you...... pick a day, any day. I can sit outside on my front steps and watch the cars come down my street looking for parking spots, most of them visitors at the nearby hospital. Watch the idiots try to parallel park..... is it hilarous or scary?

Today for example, I watched one 40-ish woman try to back into a spot for nearly 10 minutes. The spot was plenty big enough for her Pontiac Sunfire, but try as she might, she just couldn't make it fit. After 10 minutes and about 12 tries, she up and drives away, obviously thinking she'll find a spot big enough to park a semi in. On a weekday around here?..... not likely.

Another guy, looks to be in his 50's, comes along.... same spot, tries to back in..... slowwwwwwwwlyyyyyyy. I'm talking slowwwwwwwww...... he takes nearly 3 minutes to get into the spot, ends up shutting his car off, getting out and walking away....... his car is in all right.... back right tire up against the curb, front end about 3 feet OUT from the curb. Clueless? Absolutely.

Any day, I'm telling you.... any given day..... they are out there, driving around like they haven't a clue in the world...... it's no wonder at all that there are so many motor vehicle accidents. Makes me wonder how they passed their drivers test in the first place.

Oh, and I've been keeping some loose tabs here.... it seems only about 1 in 4 drivers in Winnipeg actually use their signals when making lane changes. For all you fuckers too lazy to signal when turning or lane changing, you know the drill.....

There are approx 6.5 million car accidents per year in the US. That's about 17,000 accidents every day.

Over 3 million people are injured per year about 1 out of every 100 people.

About 50,000 people are killed every year in car accidents. About 1,000 per week.

Depending on what you do for a living, getting in a car is the most dangerous thing people do every day.

Damn straight.

Thank god for this biz, than god for allowing me to find a way to work from home. A tank of gas now lasts me over a month, usually. No need to drive to and from work, and most of the usual needs like groceries, booze, and the bank are all within walking distance for me.

Think of it.... some of these 1005 morons are even on the freeway with you. A moron at high speed is more dangerous than 100 Ted Bundies.

Next week's rant might have something to do with drivers who have a cell phone stuck to the side of their fucking heads. You cell-phone-having drivers are all whacked.

I find it amazing that ppl get their license without having to parallel park!

I had a friend tell me...this is after I had been driving for 5 years, he's been driving for 6 months... he told me how this friend of his taught him a trick of how to parallel park...

well he explained it and all I could think was, What? You think to parallel park is to find some space big enough that you just pull in front end first???

It was fucking ridiculous!

Oh and lets not get started on ppl that can't park in a regular parking space!

Actually all DMV's in California should require parallel parking as part of the test. They did not when I took my test nor did they when my daughter did...

That's.... insane. Here we have to pass that part of the test, it is the last thing done on the road test. As you pull in to the little street that the driver's exam place is on, you have to pull up alongside some orange posts and then back the vehicle in properly. They measure the distance from the curb you arrive at, and you are also graded on your technique. You are allowed two attempts per test.

This is part of the reason I'm surprised how there can be so many people who are clueless when it comes to parallel parking.

I remember when I took my first road test. I was doing great, then got the parallel parking done, then I went to pull out of the spot between the posts and the testor guy had to hit the brake for me...... because some dipshit darted out of his spot behind me after I had shoulder-checked. That was an automatic flunk. I had to go back the next morning and retake the entire road test, which I passed.

I took the road test one other time, about 12 years ago or so.... you are allowed up to 50 demerits on the test before you fail. I got only 3...... I failed to stop before the sidewalk while leaving the parking lot, a very minor decuction. Everything else was "George Costanza" perfect.

Cell phone talking drivers are the most annoying assholes on the planet.

I stopped using a cell phone about 3 months ago altogether.

Why?....cause, it was endless bullshit chatter about nothing to people and only cost me cash in the end. Also, I had gotten in a few close calls with assholes that had phones stuck to their heads.

Handsfree units arent for me. I am not going to be tethered to my phone, that is just insane in my eyes.

My friends / biz associates cant beleive that I dont have a cell phone even for when I am out on the road.

I look at it this way, I have AIM, ICQ, Email on a dozen accounts. fax, home#, biz# toll free#, half a dozen chat handles as well as BBS posting places.

If you cant reach me there via them 3 zillion ways, I am probably doing something that is way more important than talking to your azz.
