So webmasters are getting arrested, held, beat up etc.

There's one way to beat em'.

Get political.

Look at how many people view porn sites each day. It's the best platform for advertising since yelling out the window.

If youse all team up, get news stories, exclusives even from the news sources that actually fight for the common man and put up links, quotes from these sites etc. you'll be educating the public on a scale unprecedented in modern times.

Could ya see the headlines? " Porn sites expose political scandals ".

You would be the most feared group since the invasion of the Mongols.

Heck, the foreign webmasters could do the most damage as the U.S. feds can't touch em' for some trumped up charge.

Everybody just grab reliable headlines and post em with a link to the story and cut out a wee bit of your site to post that top news story. Or if you don't want to lose traffic just post the story with the byline and copyright from it's source.

My argument is simple. They can spend all this manpower and money to go after people for the most bullshit reasons but for some strange reason evil warlords are still running around loose, dope is still coming into the country even after the 911 crackdown, nazis are still holding open rallies, klansmen too, kids are being prostituted and their main customers are the same guys who'll show up at a political rally acting like 'joe average' but bust these guys? Naw, send 25 cops costing god knows how much money to pinch a guy who's only expressing his concerns about injustice.

Did you see any 25 cops going after the big time mob bosses recently? No. Know why? Cause they pay enough.

I think this refers to the 2257 crackdown. They recently hired 50 prosecutors (I think it's 50, is it 25?) who are charged specifically with prosecuting 2257 violations.

I think the most telling thing about this crackdown is that these prosecutors must report to Congress (I think it's Congress) at the end of the year with the number of people successfully prosecuted.

The numbers thing makes me think it's political. They want numbers to show the voters at election time. "10,492 adult webmasters in jail because of George Bush! Look what we did about online porn!" If you were a prosecutor and your clear measure of success is the NUMBER of successful prosecutions you've made over the last year, the thing you're gonna do is look for the obvious violations and plea them out. That allows you to rack up numbers quickly.

I've always been dilgent about my 2257 paperwork so I'm cool with it. (Just looked at all that stuff yesterday, in fact, just to be damn sure.) Be damn sure that YOU are in compliance and you probably don't have anything to worry about.

Another data point is the guy who was just popped for having a graphic rape content site. That shit is dangerous, if you have rape, beast, or young teen stuff you're on dangerous ground.

Did you know that 2257 penalties were recently doubled? First offense up to 5 yrs plus a fine. Second offense 2 manditory up to 10 years. That gives them a bigger stick to get you to plea it out for a year. The fact that they doubled the penaties and hired special prosecutors is good reason to expect 2257 to be the primary focus of the crackdown.

I welcome the 18 USC 2257 prosecutions, we been waiting for them since 1997.

Any idiot that gets tagged for this with 6 years of warnings and eduction in front of their face needs to be indicted so he can get the fuck out of my industry :-)
