Ran into some nasty weather today (pics)

Went out with my uncle today looking for storms.. He called me and said that some nasty storms where coming and the chances were good we might see a tornado.. The weather conditions were perfect.. We drove about an hour down some dirt roads till we saw some dark skies and drove towards them.. Sure enough.. Check out the pics we took.

Started to rotate.

Close up shot.. It was only about 200 yards from us.

We took these pics and got the fuck out of dodge as fast as we could. Happened so fast.. I've seen funnels like this before out in the country side but, nothing like this.. It was fucking nuts...

I had sex with a tornado once...

I think it was canadian, couldn't hurt anyone, and kept raping the elk.

I saw a big storm in FLA today off the beach too. It was great. I jsut stood there in my rain coat and let the rain pelt me. It was fun to be outside not staring at this computer

Aren't they? The wind is supposed to blow, but the ground isn't supposed to move.

WOW! Great pictures! After being in one I have a VERY healthy respect for tornadoes, but they still fascinate the heck out of me.

And for you CA folks - we usually can get SOME warning that a tornado's on the way - they don't just APPEAR on a crystal clear day like an earthquake does.

I can tell you they make a noise you never want to hear close up.

I live in SE Kansas and in April 2000 an F3 tornado (wind speeds 160-200mph) took out a 100-yard wide path through the center of my town. I was lucky and it missed a direct hit on my house by about 100 feet, but nothing of a shop/office building on the other side of my block was left except the concrete pad. A carnival about a mile away also "vanished" and there were varying amounts of damage to buildings all along its path. My house suffered around $30,000 damage just from falling debris and a tree blown onto the front.

Amazingly although there were quite a lot of mostly minor injuries, no-one was killed and this year we have had alerts but no tornados have hit town. Sadly some neighboring towns were not so lucky. They were hit in May by an F4. One town was 80% destroyed and 4 people were killed.

Thank You. Those are amazing pictures.
I could almost smell the storm.
I used to go storm chasing with some friends a while back so I understand the excitement and the fear. It gave me an insane amount of energy and then I would laugh my ass off, probably because I was happy to have survived.

I love seeing a good storm. We never get stuff like that here. Last tornado or anything I saw was a mini twister 12 years ago that ripped up a few highway signs. 'bout it.
