Yes.. its a virus or a worm or something that recently infected a tonne of WinXP machines.

-----------
Fix : Install the latest WinXP Patch
-----------

At least thats what i believed.. cause this has come up so much.
Or just search that in google. You'll get your results!

I am dealing with the SAME exact thing right now. Just started happening about a half hour ago.

I just went in and found the option to tell it not to fucking reboot my damn machine every time.

Now trying to figure out what is causing it.

Running virus and trojan scanners right now.

They are using the exploit to excute a local command to terminated svchost.exe services on your machine its call MRPC . In Another words protect your port 135 from outside attacks.

... + Get the fix from M$.com ^^

Mine is not a worm, its some sort of DOS attack.

I have three machines, two Win2k and one XP. ALL have had their RPC services crash.

I disconnect from cable modem, reboot, no problem. Reconnect and reboot, crash.

I believe this is my problem, although the patch doesnt seem to have done any good, its still crashes.

Download the patch from an other computer.
Put it on a CD and RENAME it.
Run the file on the infected computer.
