What will be the long term effects of Yahoo buying Overture and will someone buy Google in the next 24 months?

Getting #1 for the single keyword "sex" is not something that cant be done by you. Google is a content whore. You should be adding 1 single page related to your topic daily. An exapmle for you to base this off of is www.sexuality.org. They sell sex toys, ans on almost any google search for sex toys, or sex toy related keywords, they rank very hi. Look at what the have done, and emulate it yourself.

There is no "magic" pill that will put you in that #1 spot. It requires a lot of research and twice as much time.

That is a great question and one that cant be answered. There are a rummors going around, but nothin firm I can tell you.

Google has been acting very strangely the last couple of months. Which I am sure all of you know. Its really gonna be a time game to see if google smoothes out and gets back to normal, or is doing something new from here on out.

As many of you know, google and overture have been updating yahoo. Yahoo purchased overture just about a month ago. Although there has yet to be an announcement from yahoo as to the plans for the aquisition, gut feeling tells me that yahoo will phase out all google entries but keep the ad word entries as it is revenue to them. We will all just have toride this one out and see what happens.

If done properly, and with a high profit margine, and a popular item it is entirely possible. Just remember that SEO is not a one time thing. You need to dedicate just as much time to it as you do building your sites. Learn the hows and whys of the search engines.

Ok, How do I get a higher page rank on my sites?

One is a TGP and the other is a gallery domain.

I'm listed, and get ok traffic from it, but nothing major.

Detailed suggestion would be appreciated.

Lil2rich4u2....Allthough you have been my new target lately in the busting of balls category, i'll refrain from sarcasm on this post.

Its not a very good idea to link all of your sites from the same ip block. Now if you are hosting at with a big company, they may have ip's from more than 1 block. I would request a new ip per site from different blocks.

Better yet split your sites on 2 or 3 servers from different hosts, and use the info above.

There have been many offers to buy out google. But they are strong and stable, and have quite a few interesting things in the works as we speak.

I have no idea about SE's at all ( only about PPC SE's ).
How do I get SE traffic ?
Is it enough making simply lots of free or link sites, linking them together ( creating hubs ) and trying to get links from linklists with good PR ? And then forgetting about them and makin new ?

Or what else is important?

Linking is an easy way to gain pr. Also, proper metas and relevant content are a must. I have found most people have no clue how their meta should be set up. Carry your page title into the description. carry that into the top of your page using the H1 tag. Ecerything plays a small part in your pr. Links are very important with that.

Any linking helps even from an unrelated site. A lot of pr is the median average of links. Linking to or from an unrelated site will not hurt you, but it doesnt help as much as a related site.

Well, you are somewhat on the right track. My best advice to you would be learn how to properly set up a site for the se's, ad content at a minimum of weekly, search out good links, and hand submit them. As long as you have a site that is indexed, and you add links to it, google will find them and index them.

I have clients that have very niched out sites that get very little. In the order of 500 to 5000 per day depending upon their niche and what we optimized for. I have other clients that are getting in excess of 100000 per day. Traffic depends exclusively on what people are looking for. If you have a heavy niche site (amputee midget anal fisters), how many people are actually looking for that. 500 hits a day would be huge. I tend to stay away from broad optimizing. Granted it gets a lot of traffic, but its not targeted. Waste of time and money, bandwidth etc. The key is to optimize for exactly what you have to offer on your sites. Build a general site later and funnel your traffic that way.

Simply quoting generic information is by no means a ridiculous notion. Anyone of you could find 80% of the information on your own. Now would I share any nuggets of gold? Fuck no. The point of the thread is to give everyone a starting point. Most people have no idea how to properly set up a site for the engines.

No you cant create them and leave them. The updating has nothing to do with bookmarkers. Im not talking about gallerys or pics. Im talking about spider food. You need to create new pages with lots of text.

Maybe a newbie question...but...
if I had a page and was using SSI for say a text ad, and another for body text...would a SE spider be able to read this?
or would it just read the SSI tag and not the text the tag was set to display?

If you put them all together you have pretty good chances scoring top 10s.

I can help with this one... SSI is a server side include, so the surfer (or SE) won't even know that section X was included as part of the whole page. It's completely seamless. If you can see SSI tags in the source (viewed from your browser) then you're doing something wrong.
