Arnold openly admits to smoking weed on a regular basis.
I'm not sure if he does anymore, but in his first movie "Pumping Iron" he noted that he smoked weed before every workout to
keep himself focused and to lessen the pain.

Go Arnold :thumbsup

I even saw Ann Coulter call him a jerkoff. John Ashkr0ft is a conservative. Pat Robertson is a conservative.

A fag loving, baby killing, pagan. He is about as republican as I am.

The ONLY reason Bush and the rest of the republican slapdicks support him is because if he wins, its another "win" for the republicans. D out, R in, in a state that if I am not mistaken ALWAYS goes to the democrats. Thats all that matters. If he were anything but republican they would be resorting back to their anti-hollywood rhetoric of the last year or so. Republican actors good, non republican actors bad.

Its a mockery of democracy and just proves what absolute idiots Americans are. Yay, lets vote him in because he make shitty action movies. I hope the Mexicans start a race riot and kill you all.
Now that's a man true to his word, agree or disagree. :1orglaugh

I eat mexican quite often, but ttheres now way they can blame american fast food compared to the native cooking.

hahaha

Maybe it is the first steps to a legal claim against McDonalds????

Funny piece of news anyway.

LeeNoga 08-11-2003 08:35 AM

Aw'Nald, would be the moutpiece with the Kennedy's telling him what to do second, because his wife will be the first.

He could win this.

Fletch XXX 08-11-2003 08:39 AM

You guys are not local here, but Arnold is making appearances all over, even within a mile or so from me and is drawing nice size crowds. He was just outside the big Warner bros studio not long ago, big crowd, he sure has some fans ;)

regardless of how its getting played on cnn and around the world, he has many supporters and i think california wants a more welcome and household name, other than the soulless kidnapping politicians we have in office now.

Its more of a people vs the state kinda of thing.

People can laugh, but this will b e proof that our system can actually still work. Davis not working? get him out, then repace him with WHO THE PEOPLE WANT.

Can't really knock it, thats how it is supposed to work.

Im glad its possible.

ThePornGuy 08-11-2003 08:41 AM

Think about it. There is going to be a ballot with 192 names on it. In that big ass long list of names, guess who is going ot have the most recognition. Not only that but 42% of people polled said that there is a strong chance they would vote for him. The next closest is some democrat with 20% or something. It does seem like he has a really strong chance of winning.

He would loose if the voters had to spell his last name....

No wonder they all call him ' Arnold"...

Lonny 08-11-2003 09:25 AM

sure he's up 25% over davis right now, plus what gets me is Arnold is by far richer then california which tells the people that he doesnt need our money from speacial interest.

it seems Arnold is a sure win already, taking CA with charm and popularity.

Gemini 08-11-2003 11:30 AM

Davis hasn't started his mud slinging yet... odds are he will try to confront ANY contender with "what are YOUR plans"... but this has puzzled me for years, How can a new candidate really have serious plans?

They aren't privy to what the actual politicians know that are currently in office. They don't have honest numbers or facts. They all go in blind.

But pro politicians don't seem to be doing a very good job any more. They just go with the flow. And make the same mistakes over and over. Milk education and social security. F the young and hopefully the old die soon. (Think about that the next time you visit your parents or look at your kids)

We need to recall the electoral college next. ;-)

And recall the lifetime salaries for retired high government officials that usually don't need it anyhow.

Of course Arnold could win. That is - if Donald Duck or Woody Woodpecker aren't on the ballot.

Dear Maru,

On reply to your recent request for a life and / or intelligence, we would like to inform you that due to the decline in royalty, court jester positions are in rapid decline.

Forunately, the US decided to allow us the use of porta-john technology and we have reserved a position in the conveyance technicians area just for you!

Reply via snail mail asap to confirm, and be sure to swat the horse on the hindquarters after paying for express mail! :1orglaugh

We add new news items every hour, but by tommorrow we'll have 1 new news item every hour with discussion on it & up to date headlines on a seperate page via xml every 5 minutes.

Maru 08-11-2003 01:35 PM

Hi Gemini,

Nice day, isn't it?

As to Arnold - where does intelligence come into the discussion?

Arnold would make for a fine American politician in the tradition of Ronald Reagan or Jesse Ventura. Americans always preferred superficiality to substance. A real thinker wouldn't stand a chance in an American election. US-citizens get their information from 10-seconds tidbits on TV. That's right up Arnold's ally.

Oh, well. At least he's European. Maybe I'm too hard on him. There are a couple of good things in his
rhetorics. Could be worse, I guess....

kath 08-11-2003 01:40 PM

It's a circus... anyone could win. lol

The sad thing is that Larry probably has the best handle on the issues/topics that Californians are thinking about, but he won't make it. There's no way. What a shame. I think he could really do good things for California but this state has gone way too conservative in the last few years...

*sigh*

Gemini 08-11-2003 02:07 PM

Sorry Maru, I guess I was abit harsh. I'm tired of Euro's bashing the US just like I'm sure you're take is that most Americans bash Europe. Truth be, neither of us really have a handle on how our governments act. You take what our governemet says as what WE think. Untrue. Sad to say. A truth is we could care less how the other lives or behaves as long as it doesn't affect us. Different cultures and different thoughts.

But in this arena, Arnold has a 50-50 shot. Regan? LMAO He could have been worse but he had many of the same inane idiots that Bush has as so called guides to decisions. So did daddy Bush. Just look to their admins to see what will happen with the current ones.

At least Arnold comes across as honest and for the people. What more could California ask for? More of the SSDD or perhaps a chance to go forward.

For the people, BY the people is a joke.

loverboy 08-11-2003 02:16 PM

hmmm....some politicians have questioned Schwarzenegger's abilities due to his ducking of detailed questions about key issues. any comments?

sperbonzo 08-11-2003 02:20 PM

I think that it's hilarious that the Europeans make fun of American politics......This from a region that in the last 100 years has produced Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Milosovevek, Stalin, etc..... Military coups in Spain only 15 years ago, rioting in the streets everytime a goverment forces a change in argricultural prices, constant problems with "ethinic cleansing" and still has Kings, Queens, princes, dukes, etc....

As for the Arnold question, our system was NEVER meant to have "career polititions". It was SUPPOSED to be goverment by people that got voted in by their peers, go do a term and then come back home and go on with their lives. Career polititions are the damn problem!:1orglaugh

-- I think that it's hilarious that the Europeans make fun of American politics. --

Yes, it's blasphemous. Making fun of the masters of the universe? Shocking.

-- This from a region that in the last 100 years has produced Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Milosovevek, Stalin, etc. --

Er...Europe is not a region, it's a continent. There are 7 of those. Milosovevek? Europe also produced Luther, Bach, Shakespeare, Leonardo da Vinci, Churchill and a couple of others.

-- Military coups in Spain only 15 years ago --

There was one in 1981 and it was a big joke.

-- rioting in the streets everytime a goverment forces a change in argricultural prices --

That's France. You see: Not all French dine at McDonald's. They have an agriculture that dates back hundreds of years and make some of the best products in the world. Just think of wine and cheese. They want to protect that tradition which, in a way, is comprehensible. By the way: It's not rioting like you have it in USA because the social inequality isn't as big in Europe as it is in USA. It's mostly peaceful demonstrations. Also, French agricultural politics is a big issue here but the French are pretty stubborn people.

-- constant problems with "ethinic cleansing" --

Constant? There was a Berlin wall that was removed. In the wake, there were some nasty problems in the former Yugoslavia. Nowadays, they play soccer matches against each other. It was basically a conflict between Christians and Muslims - something which is happening in other parts of the world and not only Europe. 11/7 was a clash of cultures in it's own way.

-- and still has Kings, Queens, princes, dukes, etc.... --

Yea, that's awful, isn't it? So when Lady Diana died, no one in USA noticed. No copies of National Enquirer were sold with her on the cover?

-- As for the Arnold question, our system was NEVER meant to have "career polititions". It was SUPPOSED to be goverment by people that got voted in by their peers, go do a term and then come back home and go on with their lives. Career polititions are the damn problem! --

It's rich people screwing poor people. Like everything else in USA. Right-wing Reagan was brought on by a bunch of millionaires who wanted the policy of the rich to be imposed. He was the perfect stand-in for that. I'm glad you still have your illusions. The system is counting on people like you.

...

On a different note: The war in Iraq has sharpened the US-Europe divergence. Many Europeans are bloody fed up with USA playing the self-imposed policeman of the world. Europeans are convinced that it's USA getting it wrong. And the other way around. Add to that the traditional American contempt and ignorance of everything non-American, and you have the recipe for conflicts down the road.

My opinion: Europe needs to get together, forget some of the old rivalry and form a real alternative to the US-Israel axis.

Just_Dave 08-11-2003 05:05 PM

he has a good chance of winning

frippeno 08-11-2003 06:59 PM

I have no problem with Arnold, seems like a nice guy. But anyone who thinks he can do something Davis couldn't is suffering from cranial/rectal inversion.

If the voters of California vote this guy in they will get exactly what they deserve. A puppet taking orders.

And BTW - the budget crisis in California stems *mostly* from the energy trading fraud perpetrated by Bush*'s buddy Kenny Boy and friends. Still not indicted, aw ain't that peculiar. The discovery phase of the trail (California vs Enron) is about to begin and there are a lot of "leaders" who want to scuttle that whole thing as fast as they can. Wouldn't be prudent to allow the masses to know what really happened now would it.

America in general is getting the government it deserves. Nobody will care until their ox is gored, and by then it won't matter at all, everybody's ox will be dead :)
