ibill and mastercard

August 6, 2003

MasterCard Compliance Initiatives

Dear Merchant,

In an effort to remain in compliance with MasterCard regulations regarding aggregate transaction processing, iBill, as well as all other processors, will be required to initiate changes in the way aggregated clients (iBill Catalog Complete clients) accept and process MasterCard payments. These new MasterCard regulations will result in changes to iBill processing operations. Consequently, due to the nature of your business, your iBill Catalog Complete account does not qualify for any of the alternatives that we are able to offer in regards to the new regulations. iBill regrets to announce that in order to continue processing for your account, MasterCard will need to be disabled on your account so that you will not continue to process transactions utilizing MasterCard effective August 22, 2003.

It is an ongoing goal of iBill to notify clients as soon as possible regarding business-critical issues related to our operating procedures.

Additionally, we would like to thank our clients for contacting us and assisting in this effort by providing their acquiring bank's contact information. We want you to know that we are doing everything possible to reduce the negative impact this incident may have on your customer relationships.

iBill has built its reputation by offering unsurpassed tools, products and services that enhance our clients' internet-based transaction processing. Although the regulations affecting our industry are ever-changing, our commitment to supporting our clients to the highest possible degree remains constant. As always, we thank you for your business.

Sincerely,

iBill

What kinds of sites are subject to this restriction, and what is the restriction? It seems vague, as usual.

For some. like me, it is a pain in the ass... I do both and paid for US presence and Visa fees to be shut off by Mastercard....

Any fucking logic here???

Take notice: the adult biz in the US is going down.

Read the thread, it doesn't apply to signups, only catalog sales. And it doesn't effect me anyway, I have a merchant account in waiting.

Why are you able to sell subscriptions but not products? Aren't products lower risk because you verify the address when shipping?

IBill sent a similar email yesterday telling us about new rules we have to follow for Mastercard. They asked us to "contact them" when we were ready to submit our sites to make sure we comply.

Contact them? I've been trying to contact them for two months.

I don't know which is lower. I get close to zero chargebacks selling dvds, and the same for memberships.

Yes for some reason most processors including CCBill won't process "real" goods, not sure why.

IBill was a beacon in that sea and it just sunk.

Cmon, The only reason they didn't steal the money is that
Catalog sales is a relativly small portion of thier business. subscriptions is there bread and butter and they need to maintain some good will to stay in business. Believe me if they only did catalog sales they would have bellied up in a minute without a word. Ibill sucks

Feel free to contact our staff to assist you in your efforts to promote our websites.

However, 1500 is not a large amount of traffic. Contact us with specifics and we'd love to help out.
