Breakfast - people actually eat pancakes and syrup?

I had pancakes and maple syrup for the first time ever this morning (under advisement from someone who shall remain nameless). You know who you are.

Sickeningly sweet, and the whole time I was thinking "this is what a tumor must taste like". Of course I ate it all though... I'll be fucked if some hobo is going to fish my breakfast out of a trash can.

I can't believe that people actually like that shit.

Agree? Disagree?

They both like syrup

Sure! Ate them all the time growing up. Thats one thing the hubby doesn't care to make so I just nuke waffles every now and then. There are lots of kinds of syrups tho. I like Blueberry syrup, and strawberry now and again. But we did either maple or plain Karo years ago before they made all the flavored ones.

Not the price for your pancakes and syrup. Now factor in the 20 cents the syrup cost, the delivery of the product, and the stores profit.

$1.09 for pancakes, what did you expect?

Pancakes are great. I don't drown them in maple syrup though. That's a bit much. Just a little bit poured over them and they're great, even from McDonalds.

Of course I've had English pancakes before, but I wasn't keen on them. Maybe I need to make my own American style pancakes.

What's the difference between American waffles and pancakes? Pancakes with purdy embossed squares = waffles?

I had a feeling it was Mcdonalds. There's your problem. Mcdonalds breakfast completely sucks. I've had their pancakes and sausage and they are awful. Their breakfast biscuits aren't any better. I've never tried a breakfast bun so I don't know about that.
You can't judge pancakes from McD's pancakes. I guarantee they'll be better from just about anywhere else.

I don't like to start my day with heavy carbs, but I love pancakes as a late night which possibly went to the next day snack. Not much for syrup, but pancakes are yummy. I've got the inside skinny on pancakes in Los Angeles. I've done research.

Jeez people, pancakes from McDeath's?? C'mon, live a little. Of COURSE that's what a tumor tastes like.

Special pancake recipes in my family include bueberry pancakes (made with fresh Manitoba blueberries, or a berry called "saskatoons"), strawberry pancakes, and my oldest brother's patented recipe for potato pancakes. Any of these would blow your mind, no doubt about it.

And none of this fake table syrup shit. You gotta have the real MAPLE syrup from Quebec. I have relatives in Quebec that send us a case of it every so often, best in the world I tell you. The real stuff is light and not sickeningly sweet at all.

The best pancakes, hell the best breakfast, you can get, is at a true American diner along the highway at 4am after you've been driving for 9 hours.

Stack of 3 pancakes with a lil' butter between them, a little syrup on top so it drips down the sides, 4 slices of bacon, 3 sausage links, two fried eggs, hash browns and 2 slices of toast. Wash down with OJ and a cup of coffee. Back on the road.

American pancakes sucked so much ass I can't believe it.

What I did find hilarious though is that people have pancakes with syrup, sausages and eggs on the same platter.. I even witnessed a few guys having sausage with syrup pancakes on the same fork.

fucking odd.

Saying you had pancakes at McDonald's is like saying you had a hamburger at McDonald's...technically you are right, but realistically you're way off base.

There is no way to compare real pancakes with pancakes from McD's, just like a real cheeseburger is light years away from a McD's cheeseburger.
