You can still set-up your account for mastercard, discovery, online checking and dialer at ccbill ..

You can do it right, or gamble with a third party processor that is playing games with Visa.
You are screwed in Australia, as I am in Canada. But I found a solution, as can you.

Not true, someone actually said something pretty smart in this thread. You could simply make your join page contain two elements for the surfer, if they are using anything but visa click here to sign up through CC Bill or whoever, if you want to sign up using VISA click here and have them sign up through the AVS system.

A thinking person might even pitch it as a benefit to VISA customers instead of a bad thing, such as VISA customers can purchase a membership to this site and receive access to an entire network of sites, or whatever you know.

Just use your brain and there is a work around to all situations.

For Australians its a bit more than 750 because we also have to set up a business entity somewhere in the US and then there is the question of double taxation - but I'm not too clear on the tax issue.

There are other Aussies here on the board who have gone that route Uproared - maybe they can help you.

This may be relevant to some Aussie's - get up a corp in Europe with what would have been the $750 fees. Means you actually have something for the money and use people like CCBillEU, IBillEU and a good few others within the Euro banking region without paying the fees.

It is relevant that you incorporate in a Euro country that has no tax treaties with Aussieland.. for the reason, have a look at Gibraltar.

Webby,
I have a corp in the EU & am about to sign up with ccbilleu.
Do I need a EU bank account to sign up with ccbilleu, or is any bank account Ok?
Any ideas ?
Thanks.

I can't see why CCBillEu are interested which account they pay the revenue into. The most relevent thing to comply with VISA's cross border trading rules is that the corp be situated in the EU.

Otherwise a nice bank *anywhere* sounds good!

You know - I have been thinking about this whole rotten situation regarding Visa's extortion fees. What exactly is the reason that Visa feels the need to collect $750 from adult webmasters?

Chargebacks? As website owners - we all know what happens when someone charges back - not only is the card holder refunded, but we usually have to pay an extra $25 chargeback fee. It comes out of OUR pockets - not the bank's, the customer's or the third party billing company and certainly not Visa's.

The adult internet industry is castigated, strong armed and penalized - yet the credit card companies encourage fraudulent chargebacks by allowing any schmuck whose wife finds their credit card, to say "it wasn't me!"

What the fuck is going on?

Did you decide to go the route of incorporating in UK? Just curious I am in Canada as well.

Looks like in total it will cost me the fees for incorp. So anywhere between 400 and 2000.

Not taking Visa isn't really an option. CCbill told me that visa is 70-80% of what they process. They suggested using epassport and them for MC, Amex, etc. without the visa. Don't think that is a great idea though. Probably the best is incorporating in Europe region.

If you cant afford $750 maybe its time to think about another career in all honestly. I am not trying to be a smart ass but I know all the effort its takes to be in this business and if all that hard work hasnt started to pay maybe its time for change.

Not sure if that is directed at me but I am Canadian so its more than the 750 fee. Its also having to go thru incorporating in another country. Visa is screwing the Canadians and making it very difficult for us.

Well, the US does have a tax treaty with Australia (as well as many many other industrialized nations). The treaty prevents double taxation on both sides, actually. For instance, if I earned income in Australia but did not live there, I would be able to reclaim almost all the taxes withheld (or paid to Australia), pay them here and then actually take a Foreign Tax Credit, for the part I could not reclaim, on my US income taxes.

This applies to Australians earning US-based income too.

Though, I don't know how it directly applies to businesses since businesses also pay business taxes depending on where they're set up and not just income tax.
