Is it really 2% ??
The following is from the extreme tech article someone posted in here:
Prepaid royalties for content providers will start at $1,500 for a company making less than $100,000, on up to $170,000 for companies making between $7 million and $10 million. Webmasters will be assessed a bit more, with royalties ranging from $1,500 for sales of $50,000 and below, and $200,000 for annual sales of $10 million. In cases where annual revenue exceeds $10 million, licensees are required to contact Acacia for special terms. OK, I'm confused a bit. It says royalties will START at $1,500 for webmasters grossing under $50,000. If you gross exactly $50,000, that turns out to be 3%, not 2%. If you gross less than $50,000 the percentage goes way up. So it looks like the very least you will have to pay is $1,500 per year. Am I interpreting this correctly? Operating an online business can be extremely expensive. You have to buy or lease content, buy hosting and BW, buy the domain rights, etc.. These expenses add up in a hurry. Someone grossing 50K is likely to spend AT LEAST 1/2 of that on expenses. And they have the fucking NERVE to say that their 'asking price' is fair? My god! I don't think I've ever seen anything more UNFAIR in my entire life. |
