I was 10 in '75. I barely remember the stickers.

I'm still looking for the cards/stickers of girls/guys that came with a box of candy at the drive-ins in the seventies. For some reason, I keep thinking of SweetTart candy.

YEAH, thats it! I had a trash can in my room that was covered with those stickers, and those fake goofy product stickers... like the ancient ancestor of the garbage pail kids...

I was born in 1961 and I remember them! I loved those things. The problem is that those of us old enough to remember, are starting to hit old age dementia and CAN'T remember specifics.

If someone else says it, I'll remember the name - it hasn't been mentioned yet though.

I was ten in 1976 but what you're describing sounds like the Garbage Pail Kids from the '80's.

Otherwise, I know the stick of gum with baseball (and other) cards was stiff, cardboardish.

Do they still make those candy cigarettes??

You got a box of these candies that looked exactly like a cig.. You even peeled the rolling paper wrapper off.

The best part was you got 1-2 "puffs" per smoke. It was just blowing powder sugar, but it sure seemed realistic.

I loved those gum cigarettes mostly for the powdery sugar puff and the boxes. I remember rolling the boxex in my t-shirt sleeves just like dad used to do.

I turned 10 years old in '73
Later broke out of Milhead maximum security
Twelve pictures lined up across the front page
Seems the Mounties had a summertime war to wage
The chief told the people they had nothing to fear
Said, "The last thing they wanna do is hang around here"
They mostly came from towns with long French names
But one of the dozen was a hometown shame.

Same pattern on the table
Same clock on the wall
Been one seat empty, eighteen years in all
Freezing slow time, away from the world
He's 38 year's old, never kissed a girl
He's 38 year's old,
never kissed a girl

You young whippersnappers!!!

Why in MY day we didn't have stickers! We had to carve out our own retinal nerves, wait for sunlight to flash burn the stored electrons onto a rock. Iffin' you had a rock! Rocks was for rich people in them days!

'Gum Cigarettes'???? If you had 'Gum Cigarettes' you was livin' high on the hog in them days! They didn't even invent 'GUM' back then, just 'GM'. You had to save up 500 'GM' boxtops just for one stick of 'GUM' and you had to boil it in water to have 'Gum Soup' and share it with the rest of the family.

If you was good and ate all your Gum Soup yer ma would let you lick the bottom of the pot. Many a day we went to school with a smile on our faces and a pot stuck to our tongues cause you had to wait for it to dissolve or it'd rip your tongue out.

By Cracky!!!

( Of course I remember the stickers. I'll dig up some website links with other goodies to see if you can find what you want.)

I used to buy them wacky packs and oddrods too. They were kewl. Really lousy gum, but great cards. The series thatmade fun of consumer products, like "Land-O-quakes" etc... awesome.

Some of that shit was funny as hell.

I remeber sticking those things all over my room and getting a beating from my dad for doing it. The a-hole made me peel them all off and scrub off the leftover adhesive with my toothbrush.

Thanks for stirring up that traumatic childhood memory.

I've never smoked so I eat the hell outta those candy cigarettes instead.

So while we're at it...anyone remember Milton the Toaster and Chocolate/Peppermint Pop Tarts that were only available in (if I recall correctly) 1973?

I soooo loved those Pop Tarts but, alas, I was the only one...they got yanked for poor sales.

Garbage Paid Kids is the one I was thinking of.

You can still buy those gum and candy cigarettes at a specialty candy store in the Atlanta Area...of course, once again the name escapes me. This moron mother was giving the clerk crap for selling them (like the $6 an hour kid had control over that). I asked her if she also lectured all the clerks at the grocery and quickmarts for having REAL cigarettes for sale. That shut her up. Like Candy/Gum cigarettes are going to make you smoke.

I remember when I was a kid, my grandfather used to take me to Jack's corner shop, and we bought pear drops and bubble gum with temporary tatoos inside the wrapper for 5p each.

Now THOSE were good times. Wasn't the 70s though.

If you're in LA there's a great store for nostalgic stuff called " Wacko Soap Plant ". It's west on Hollywood Blvd. where it intersects with Vermont Ave.

It has the coolest toys and model kits. Also Hollywood Costumes and Toys near Mann's Chinese theatre. If you're an old fart like me you'll remember the old 'Aurora' Model kits like 'Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea' and 'Lost in Space' and those Universal Monster kits.

A ton of resin model kits too.
