Acacia Question

I have the feeling if this went to an educated court who could see the future and present implications of allowing such a patent, and had any idea what the internet and digital video is, any decision to support their right to royalties will be overturned. Time is the only question.

Anyway... Anyone who has gotten their package and paid up -- is your royalty payment contingent upon them keeping the patent?

Digital streaming and the internet is the future of almost every aspect of business, the patent is a joke.

What if you just link to a streaming webcam which is hosted by another entity? Will they still come after you? What can you do in that situation?

You make it sound like Acacia's patent somehow prevents websites from using video. It doesn't.

I don't care about getting around the patent, because it won't exist for too long, but I'd rather pay and get my money back than go to court, be forced to pay, and then get my money back... so that was my question, are all ACACIA payments subject to reversal when teh patent is tossed?

It only prevents you from using video on your website if you refuse to pay the 2%.

It's not as if Acacia is saying that since they own the patent on internet video they are the only ones who can use video on websites and nobody else.

There won't be any refunds. The $$ will be spent as fast as they get it in this fight.

I don't know why so many of you are under the impression that when Acacia has their patents invalidated that they (as that branch of their company) are going to be around long enough for you to get a cent back from them.

In situations like this, bank accounts get closed and money moved around instantaneously to the decisions made -- if not before.

I got that packet, and HIGHLY sugguest that you speak with an attorney BEFORE you pay.

The packet says that if you pay and the patent is no good, you still have to pay them!!!
