First: Fire computer guy.

Second what os are you running??

if it is me or xp i think that you can restore it to previous settings.

start > programs > accessories > system tools > system restore.

If it is not one of those, OS's go to best buy and start over.

Norton Utilities may be able to help. I know there is a recovery utility that I used many years ago.

It's worth a shot but unless you had backups of your data the chances of recovery everything aren't very good.

Good luck. Make backups next time and fire the computer guy. You don't "accidentally" format a disk.

That's gotta' hurt! You need disk recovery expert for this and should not use the drive for anything until you get it to him. Good luck with all that though, you're looking at least $500, maybe more...

Will take a while though

Again, don't write anything to that drive. Even a temp file may be overwriting valuable information. If you're going to try to recover it yourself with a program, use the drive in question as a secondary drive.

Also, be aware that these recovery programs may sometimes misdiagnose the problem and try to fix things on the disk that isn't broken. If that happens, it'll end up costing you more if you do have to use the services of an expert after all.
