i used to do a lot of HIV education work. I have a theory that part of the reason condom usage amongst younger groups in the US and UK is dropping again is that with modern drug treatments we now have a generation of people in the US and UK that have never actually seen a loved one die of AIDS, never had the horrid images on their tv screens unless it is framed as something that happens in far off Africa. well, they did clinical trials on AIDS patients from jail in Russia. And after the treatment, the HIV virus was not detectable and their T cell count was up. So I am guessing it is one of the most good treatments for AIDS patients today.Originally posted by FlyingIguana

Well it's not that easy to stop breeding. I did a project on this in college, on India's population. I mean take China, it took a long time and strict policies, before they could contain their population. Poverty always correlates with having lots of kids. As for the population and HIV, I did not say population boom created HIV, stop creating things and calm down. How do you think the population for example of deers are contained in the wild? More lions and tigers are born, cause there is lot of food, meaning deer. Then the deer population decreases towards its equilibrium. Same thing goes for humans, except we cant release lions to prey on humans, so the nature have HIV virus, influenza virus and other disease causing microbes to contain the human population. I know it is cruel and unusual to think this way, but thats how nature works. Try to think out of the box for a change

I write in a more impassioned way than most I think.
ok..step by step.
Read the intro on the clinic in Armenia..and they are touting Iodine as something that stops HIV. Interesting..but don't know of many main stream docs that will sign off on that.
My very first post on this was in reply to someone who had written that this is nature's way of thinning the herd..hiv that is.
And it bothers me that so many people seem to take HIV very lightly. It is a very dangerous killer that NEED NOT BE. Thus my opposal to lightly throwing around the phrase "hiv is nature's way of thinning the herd."
Of course death & disease comes from nature, but it is NOT natural or nature specific for the body to behave the way it does when infected with hiv. That is MY point, and to date, no one will acknowledge that.
The hiv virus is very similiar to SIV (Simian) virus that monkeys have. And the consensus of opinion seems to be that somewhere, the virus cross jumped species from monkeys to man.
An infected monkey bit a human or someone ate infected monkey. (YUCK! grin)
If nothing else comes out of this thread, I just hope more and more people who read this becomes more enlightened and/or educated about hiv.Comment
