Problems With Pioneer DVD Burner - Anyone else had this problem?

I have a:

PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-104

It burns DVD's and CD's. Lately I've been having problems when trying to burn DVD's. It goes through the entire proceedure, appears to be finished, but when I try to access the DVD there's nothing there.

I have no problems when burning CD's.... just DVD's.

I need to back up my content and DVD's are the only way to go.

Anyone else experience this, or have any ideas?

ive never used DVD burners, but they can't be any different from CD burners..

look around and make sure it's finalizing the cd/dvd after it burns, instead of leaving it open to add more content later

I have the same burner....and I've also experienced the same problem.

What software are you using? I use Nero Burning Rom...I think it has to do with the settings.

When I first got the burner I would back up some files...then try the dvd in my desktop and laptop...both would show no files.

I haven't had the problem since. Here are my settings.

No Multisession
Joliet unchecked
(I think the first one or two are the ones that solved it)

(more settings)
ISO 9660
ISO Level 2
all "Relax ISO Restrictions" unchecked.

The problem could also be with your media...the first spindle I used had this problem where the purple dye was pooled or dripped across some of the information tracks (problem in manufacturing - looks like a person took a purple marker and made a line from the beg. of the cd hole outwards for a cm or 2)

hope that helped

What speed are you burning at?
With the 03&04 a firmware upgrade is needed
to burn 4 speed or so I read. If your burning
at a slower speed then I have no idea, still can't
hurt to try the firmware upgrade though I guess.

Good luck, creating coasters sucks!

I have the same problem since I have updated the firmware (flashed). I had to re-install my whole MS 2000 and since then I can not use the DVD burner any longer

I went back to CD backups until they get the bugs worked out of DVD burning. I can't have my data backups work 50% of the time.
