TopBucks may not reduce payouts

Here is the e-mail I got:

TopBucks webmasters:

Many webmasters have expressed concerns about the new thresholds
and regulations handed down by Visa and the IPSPs (especially
Epoch/Paycom, our primary processor) over the recent weeks, and
we?d like to take a moment to explain how these policy changes
will affect the TopBucks program.

We are currently analyzing all the data in order to figure out
whether it will be necessary to reduce our payout rates or not; no
final decision has been made at this time. If and when the
reduction in payout rate takes place, it will occur on the
transition from one pay period to the next (August 1st or August
16th, for example), and TopBucks webmasters will be provided 2
weeks notice before any change in payout rates takes place.

The overall chargeback rate for TopBucks is very low; we are just
over the 1% threshold set by Visa, and we?re confident that making
the changes proscribed by Epoch will enable us to be in compliance
with the 1% rate by the time the new threshold becomes official in
October.

While the new Visa regulations and resulting changes to the IPSP
policies do present a challenge, we at TopBucks remain optimistic
about the future, and we are working hard to ensure that our
webmasters are impacted as little as possible by the recent changes.

If you have questions or concerns regarding the status of your
TopBucks account, please contact [email protected] and we will
review your account with you in greater detail.

Thank you, and best regards

Don't you think you will have more sales when they lower the join price too? It's simple, a lower joinprice will make more sales so after all you will end up with more sales even if they lower the payout wich is basically combined with eachother.

Lowering payouts doesn't necessarily mean lowering the price point. It probably means they will change the heaviness of the upsell and cross-sales, and need to reduce payout because of reduced profit per signup.

Were it that simple membership to every site would be 99c a year.

I disagree. The surfer usually focuses on the trial price when he signs up, not the monthly price. So a $10 drop in the monthly price probably won't increase sales since the trial will probably still be $4.95.

I miss when they used to have $1.95 trials for the longest time. Bringing those back would be very nice, even if they decrease payouts slightly.

ARS is backpedaling on the payouts issue also, they're saying they MAY NOT lower payouts.

It'll be interesting to see how all of this unfolds, and to see who's still here in 6 months.

there is obviously a point we are heading towards...a pivot point i could reach up to my shelves and pull out a term, but i wont.

there are so many dynamic changes to be thought of when making a call like this...the inital charge may be what they see...but if lowering the price point keeps them wanking on our sites for an extra couple months...im not involved in this decision btw so take what i am saying with a grain of salt...we will be weighing our odds..and making the decision bbased on metrics and what we feel will be the optimum move for us.

and i have faith in Q as he would remember the term..and not have to look it up...so relax we will be making cash with topbucks for a long long time.

That's odd. Marc De was sounding pretty gung ho for reducing payouts and cleaning up things a few days ago.

Hmm, not so true. When I promoted a paysite without trial option It didn';t make a difference when they were asked to pay 28,45 or 36,78

I think when they are horny, they wanna join anyway...Maybe when the price is like 40+ dollars they refuse, but otherwise...
