Canadian Dollar

Hello Fellow Canadians.

As we know, the Strengthened Canadian Dollar sucks for those of us getting USD paychecks.

I have been holding out converting it as long as possible.

Is there any predections on how soon or whether or not the Canadian dollar will be back down to what it was 6 months ago?

Our dollar hasn't risen much at all. The US dollar was "overvalued" and has dropped considerably. Hopefully in a few years it will return to where we've seen it in past, but not anytime soon I don't think.

Not any time soon ....

Money Market Analysts said that if the CAD hit 75¢ this summer, it would prolly stay in that range for at least the rest of the year

75¢ is a major psychological hurdle for our dollar ...

There should be more info after the 15th of July. The Bank of Canada will make some interest rate announcements then.

interest rates are due to fall and our economy has dropped off a bit from the stronger dollar. its fell already and should fall a bit more.

The exchange rate right now is around 1.40, it's better than the 1.31 from last week.

I don't think we'll see the kind of rates from 6 months ago anytime soon. The soonest we could see it is if a Democrat wins the 04 elections in the states.

Don't worry, our dollar will suck again soon enough. At least It fucking better! I too remeber just 3-4 months ago getting 1.63 rates... this 1.3x is pissin me off. What erks me is our dolalr is strong right now, yet nothing is showing for it. I get less money from each check now, yet the price for food and rent and utilities went up too.

It was definitely nice when we had the nice exchange rates, but I don't see it getting back up to that level for a very long time.

I think it is supposed to level off soon...but then they expect it to stay for a while. Instead of holding off you should be cashing your cheques the second you get them.

Why not deposit the checks in a US account? I don't think nobody is actually holding on checks.

I agree, the current situation sucks, but the Canadian dollar's been dropping. On one hand, that makes it good for all of us who get paid in US Dollars.

The Canadian dollar has always sucked. It is worthless. The real problem is, right now the US Dollar is also quite worthless. So the more our dollar falls now, the worse our economy will get, which isn't good for us. The best thing for us Canadians would be for the Americans to strengthen their economy so their dollar will return to its normal strength.

Hopefully Mr. Snow will get his act together and strengthen the US economy so our dollar's value can plummet again.

1.35? I deal with the royal Bank. I get a preferred rate, which is 1.4 well 1.39531 or something like that

Ask for a preferred rate.. Maybe you can get one!
