I never understood why people would rather be someone on the lower rung of an MLM they could start themselves.

I remember my mom had a few hundred shares of a local casino from working there. I'm sure there are some big ones listed on the market. If not you could contact them to invest.

i was thinking of something a little more involved. i think you can invest in pretty much any company under the sun via stocks.

Collectibles. Antiques, art, fine watches, historical photographs and documents, memorabilia, gold coins, ancient relics, etc.
Collectibles also tend to follow the economy and during slow times they are more available at lower prices. If you are handy with cars, the collectible car market is a particularly good area that is ripe for the pickings when times get tough. When its time to pay bills, that project Camaro with 10k invested gets sold out the door for alot less. Antique Rolexes are another example. The Bubbleback models have dropped off significantly because the strongest buyers of those items was the Japanese market and since the Nikkei tanked the bottom dropped out of the pricing. Meanwhile the Nikkei has started to climb again...

I personally like to dabble in collecting exotic pool cues. I usually have a hold time of less than a year and get 25%+ return, in many cases 40-50%. Plus I get to play with them, which is always a plus. This is a tough collectible for the uniformed to make money at though, because the market is small and there are few cues that are appreciating.

One thing about collectibles that mirrors just about any other investment, get informed about the subject matter and you stand a much better chance of making money.

I forgot to mention that A brothel in Australia has become the first brothel to be publicly traded on the stoclk exchange
you can now buy shares in it
and they plan to open a chain of brothels worldwide
I'm going to buy shares and see how it goes.
I once heard some webmaster say that Sex Sells - so i'll see if they are right
:1orglaugh

i think you can get details off their website :

Its not much to get.. really its quite simple:

There is two ways of making/loosing money.. stocks or enrolling freinds/family

First you get enrolled into the company.. either you manage to enroll others and make money on them or you don't and lose the money you paid to get enrolled.

Stocks, if you get in early you get them at a good rate.. after alittle while others have joined and think they are in early.. buy your stocks and hope the same thing will happen to them. And for awhile it usally will.. only theres not much money to earn anymore. The big bucks are for the earlybirds.

Its a gamble or game... I think its fun!.

You are not really selling anything?

yep.. basicly.

Stocktrader, its actually alot like poker.. if you know how to play the game you can make some real bucks.. but in the end its the loosers who pay the bill. Only mlm is alot easier to anticipate.

Pornwolf 07-15-2003 03:25 AM

The over 40 crowd is still falling for this MLM stuff like crazy. I keep trying to tell these people that no one wants to buy your Hawaiian Noni. If they want it they will go to the health food store. Mainstream sponsor programs on the web have replaced MLM but you can't tell them that.

So you get in early and jack all of your friends out of their money until they hate you? I don't see the upside!

You aren't going to anticipate MLM like poker. Poker odds are an exact science. It's just a matter of learning them. If you play by the odds every day you come out ahead.

Anyway, I used to read up on MLM when I was like 14. I know how it works and scamming people isn't how I want to make a living.

Well actually thats the enrolling routine.. and i honestly think it depends on how you enroll your friend.. if you tell him its easy money you are fucking him over.. if you tell him exactly how everythin work i woulden't call it jacking your friend.. but either way its not my game either.

Commercial Real Estate..

If you have a good manager for a deal, usually at least a 75k minimum buy in, you can expect to get nothing for 5 years, then 15%-20% returns every year after as long as the building isn't vacant...

Better than the stock market, since you can control everything (well the manager), plus the returns are higher.

mrbling 07-15-2003 08:43 AM

anybody who knows anything about the restaurant business knows thats its hard work.

when you are doing "investments" you want to focus on investments that require little to no -hands on work.

If you are going to invest in mcdonalds, your ass will be there every single day like a day job yelling at 15 year old employees who doesnt' give a shit.
