Perhaps you should consider your choice of words when asking someone such a simple question.

"I heard you guys had lunch at the mondrian. The lobster potatoes there are excellent."

No innuendo whatsoever. How hard was that?

even TGPs that don't do video should donate to this as many of our clients DO use video and this is a VERY worthy cause.

that kind of info wouldn't give anyone away.................

also I know this is a horrible question to ask and the donations probally won't be ENOUGH, but what IF there's money left over after the battle is won? what do you plan to do with it?

I'd suggest a big internext victory party..... but this is probally a pipe dream as legal fees are HUGE on this kind of thing and I know you'll need a TON of money to do this RIGHT.

I think listing those that want to be listed is a good idea. I'm going to be doing a promo based on this fund.

Content providers get this into your newsletters, let everyone know we are fighting these bastards.

How about some designer putting together a banner "Supporter of IMPA"

I agree JMM.. a listing of what has been raised so far would be either inspirational to those who have donated or motivational to those who have not yet donated.

List names of those who have asked, dont list them for those who havent asked.

Would be pretty easy and i guarantee it would be the most popular page on your site ;-)

Hi Kevin..

Thanks for the donation, greatly appreciated!!

The Epoch account will be set up this week which will give us the ability to do recurring donations. We still are waiting for an answer from our lawyers on the legality of it. We just want to make sure that we dot all of our i's and cross all of our t's. I will notify everyone here when that is setup if the lawyers give us the go ahead.

For those who wish to remain anonymous and fly below the radar, those requests will be honored.

For those who wish to be acknowledged, we will have an area on the website for those acknowledgements.

As for the left over legal fees..we can only dream! I am estimating that there wont be any leftover. However, if there is, it is important to remember that IMPA is about more than just this issue. The Acacia patents is one of the many issues that IMPA will focus on. 2257, credit cards, as well as other patent issues that might come up will also be a focus of the IMPA.

JMM can you tell us how many donations you have received to date? Maybe a running total so we can see how many webmasters are taking this seriosly.

If it's low I will include a note to the webmasters who buy content from me because a lot of them don't visit GFY. Maybe other content providers will be willing to do this as well.

Has anyone designed a button yet for IMPA or can I just use the the initials with the underline, as Ludedude has on his posts.

Going to be doing a promotion to bring in more money for this fight and just want to link it properly.

I think the IMPA site should have more information as to what this is all about, I read on another board a post this morning a the poster know nothing about it until he received the bloody package from Acacia.

Well, I just got my letter and packet in the mail.

I am a no one in this business, and some how I've been targeted. I started reading through the paperwork they sent, and I am totally confused.

It even says that if I have leased video feeds on my site, I still have to pay and I'm responsible. How can they do that? That means the company that provides the feed has to pay, and then the company leasing it has to pay. That's paying twice for the same thing. That makes no sense. Its like if I buy a special blender from the store, and the people that manufactured the blender are in patent violation, I as the consumer would be responsible. That's just fucked up. What has the judicial sysytem come too? How could any intelligent judge rule in their favor. Its also like double jeopardy. You can't be tried for the same crime twice, but Acacia is trying 2 companies for the same thing.

My donation is on the way. I wish I could afford more, but I'm just a small fish in a big pond. I still can't believe someone as small as me got a letter from Acacia.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. And I will keep posting bump to keep this thread on top. Someone should pin this shit. It is important to anyone that does business on the internet.

Not to sound like a pessimist, and my intentions are good when I ask this question- for benefactor's of this fight will there be itemized breakdowns of how the money is being spent? i.e. legal costs, court paperwork, etc?

I have been speaking with an outside group of investors who want to be involved in this fight but they need to know all the players involved and the expenses that IMPA is forecasting that's all

thanks in advance for your answer JMM
:-))

Yeah that would be a good idea to have an anonymous list of the individual amounts donated, as well as the running total.

Then people could donate odd/unique amounts like 104.20 to quietly see their name up in lights as a contributer.

You guys want a simple script to enter & display this information?

We'll whip something together for ya....

I very much agree. We all need to be a team on this, so we all need to know where the funds are going and where we are at. The sooner the better. I know a lot of webmasters that have just gotten their letters, and no one really knows what to do. Please understand that a lot of my friends are small peeps in the business and don't have the resources that some of the big guys have. They really have no where to go but with IMPA. Friends have asked if they should just pay so they don't have to worry about being brought into an expensive court drag out.

Too bad Bill Gates won't help us He should. I see tons of porn on Windows Media Player.

Wow...it seems to me like all the adult message boards would have this pinned.

O*rano had it pinned for a day or so.

I think all boards should have a post like this pinned with links to donate and explaining what Acacia is until Acacia falls.

Really makes you think about who is really doing what.

Well I for one commend Greg Clayman, JMM , HomeGrown and everyone else who is advocating on the side of the adult webmaster.

This business has never before banded together and for the mere reason of GREED. Now, that it is imperative to unite and help each other out for our own longevity in this business, I am making my bet that everyone together can make this go away.

It's going to take a lot more than just doantions however- it requires great "hook up" if you know of any hot shot attorney's in your area, you should ask them if they are familiar with this kind of case and if there is any interest- we simply need to find the smartest people for the cause right now.

My gut feeling is "why hasn't the IMPA contacted famous FREE SPEECH atty's? or have they? In a day and age where every attorney is a CNBC pseudo journalist, don't any famous attorneys see an intrnisic value to debating our side?

I would like to hope so.

If you stream videos, you should all know by now we are under attack from Acacia.

IMPA are fighting this and that needs money, we have already given.

But what we are going to do is run this offer until next Saturday and donate 20% of all money received to the fight.

I know this is SPAMMING the main board but this is important and we?re hoping the moderators will let it stay here, if not they can move it to the SPAM board.

After you buy come back here and bounce back to the top.

Any other content providers who want to do the same, you're very welcome to.
