I blame the dishonest people in the industry. Surfers and webmaters alike. Scammers, Spammers and flat out thieves.

If everyone were honest, there would be very few chargebacks, Visa/MC would be more agreeable, and all around it would be easier to sell to surfers, because they would be used to a standard of honesty and reliability.

It's going to take a LONG time to repair all of the damage that dishonesty has done to the industry on the whole... if it's even at all possible. But, I think for the time being, you should all just send me your traffic. :)

Thanks in advance.

All money is not smart money and some greedy cocksuckers still haven't learned that.

docjohnson 07-10-2003 08:31 PM

I think it's a great thing to get rid of free-trials. These tgp conditioned surfers only bought trials because they thought they were free, then charged back when they realised it wasn't. I hope this signals the beginning of the end of the free porn model...

That's where we all can agree that improvements to the internet need to be made.

Do you disagree - and why?

Webmaster Fraud.

nazgul 07-11-2003 11:00 AM

I know i am kind of a newbie and all, but aren't there other steps that wembasters can take in order to reduce charge backs.

Like prove that the user came to your site, and purchased access, etc? I know that I can't charge back tangible goods if I just dont' like it. So why not figure out a way through visa and mastercard to decrease the number of charges backs they issue.

There are a lot of new technologies on the market that can help you finger print a user, and prove that user actually recived the intangilbe goods they purchased. Hell maybe part of the terms and conditions for a site is that the user is forced to download one of these apps.

Seems to me that is where the industry needs to look in the long run.

I Blame J Styles

I just know somehow it was the Content Blowout thing that killed the radio star

Now because his prices are so low his story is too short.

J Styles without a sales pitch, is the end of the industry!

KB CECash pays $55 everyday :)

CECash pays $55 everyday ... Say that's "per Active" on your Follow Me Free program, right? How many people convert from free trial to "active member", Ron? 30% 40%? Even if it's 50% that's only $27.50 ... I'm saying $50 flat ... no deductions not "per active" TODAY! You run a great program. We all know that. But you're not comparing apples to apples on this one Ron

I love you and I love looking forward to having some chicken and disco with you at the Holio Compound-

Ron you are the best marketer on the web ever-
Give a brother some props for learning from the master.

Brad, I find this thread very interesting.

When will SICCash be lowering payouts and making changes?
SICCash is also using practices such as two pre-checked cross-sells on the join form, payouts of $20-$30 on "free" signups and $30-$45 on trial signups - surely you will be one of the programs making changes as well?
But you've made no mention so far that you will also have to make these changes.

Let's see - Who Wants to Fuck A Billionaire, join form
[pre-checked] Click here to signup for a 4 day NO CHARGE Membership to Broadband XXX Movies - Four Day Trial Membership. After 4 days, Membership renews automatically at $37.97 every 1 month.
[pre-checked] Click here to signup for a 5 day NO CHARGE Membership to Milf Seeker - Five Day Trial Membership. After 5 days, Membership renews automatically at $39.95 every 1 month.

Shouldn't that be "Click here to NOT signup"? As it's already clicked and they're already signing up by default?

And here's the Broadband XXX FREE join form
[pre-checked] Click here to signup for a 3 day NO CHARGE Membership to Adult Movie Network - No Charge Three Day Trial Membership. After 3 days, Membership renews automatically at $39.95 every 1 month.
[pre-checked] Click here to signup for a 5 day NO CHARGE Membership to Live Show - Five Day Trial Membership. After 5 days, Membership renews automatically at $39.61 every 1 month.

Same thing, and nowhere on this page does it state that this 3-day free trial must be cancelled within TWO days or the surfer is going to get charged for $39.95.

Let's do the match.
Dumb surfer Joe Blow sees all of this FREE ACCESS plastered all over your site and signs up. Anxious to get to the content, he types in his info, skips past the tiny little text links that lead to the full disclosure on a different page, and gets into the site.
48 hours into his 72-hour "free" trial, he is charged with $39.95.
After 72 hours he gets billed for his first "free" pre-checked cross-sell for $39.95.
After 120 hours he gets billed for his second "free" pre-checked cross-sell for $39.61.

That's a total of $119.51 for a FREE pass.

But wait - the join form's pre-checked options say that the surfer is signing up for a free trial, and after 3 or 5 days (respectively) he'll be charged. Yet your terms of service - on another page of course, not this one - state that trial memberships must be cancelled at least one full day before the trial membership ends.
So which is it? Will the surfer be charged after 3/5 days for these additional cross-sells as it's stated on the join form, or will he really be charged after 2/4 days as it's stated on the terms of service page?

Do not ask for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee...

$55 is pretty impressive, daily even.

KB, nice apples today.

SIC CASH will be making changes. What exactly they are, I am still working on. I will spend the weekend evaluating spreadsheets, running #'s, etc.

BTW, SIC CASH chargebacks are well within Visa limits. I believe that we could keep our model 97% how it is, and stay below 1%. But I also understand and respect the changes Epoch is making, and we will support them.

I work in several industries and they all have the same problems.

It's not endemic to the adult industry.

It usually boils down to incompetence, criminal/unethical practices.

That's all.

The ONLY way to defend and support your industry is to team up, hunt down and rat-out the crooks. If you let a guy 'slide' he'll eventually slide right up your ass.

Any lenience to these industry damaging practices is like someone working with you, stealing, and using your name. Guilt by association.

Good job! I look forward to seeing that announcement - every program that cuts out these confusing join form tactics is going to help the industry in the long run (Epoch rules or not) and bring money back into the equation.

High pay outs to partners for free trials just got to go and the quicker the better.

When a surfer joins a site for free (FREE) and finds he has paid a 100 bucks or even 1 buck - And also finds he has joined 2-3 other sites without realising it - He isn't going to be joining any more sites in a hurry.

The big players in this industry are fucking the surfer AND all other webmasters lower down the chain.
